Synopsis Lines on a Paper Napkin by : Gretchen Godfrey

These are my lines on a paper napkin. Napkins are disposable. When no longer useful, we discard them. We too are useful and eventually go away. However, descriptions of past places and unusual and challenging events and funny, risky, and tragic episodes are flotsam that keep our essences in the life current of succeeding generations. This book coheres a riot of random chatter from my life, a life not boring or uninteresting, but a life pulsing with adventures. An examined life full of trials, trauma, fun, frolic, risk, sorrow, silliness, great joy, and worth telling for the inherent lessons. Eventually Ill forfeit my being; however, by putting my lines in a book, perhaps this life wont end up in a waste bin so quickly.

Synopsis Hard Line by : Michael Z. Lewin

The Edgar Award–nominated author of the Albert Samson mysteries returns with “another first-rate, fast-moving police procedural” featuring Lt. Leroy Powder (Publishers Weekly). Nineteen years in Night Cover for the Indianapolis PD and suddenly Lt. Leroy Powder gets a new job description. The surly cop may have honed his instincts for solving crimes, but he can’t tell if heading the Missing Persons Bureau is a promotion, demotion, or something in between. And then he gets a new partner thrown at him. Sure, Sgt. Carollee Fleetwood is a decorated cop who took a bullet for a fellow officer, but all Lieutenant Powder sees is a woman rolling around in a wheelchair. And there’s no time to be sensitive and diplomatic when there’s a job to be done. As Powder and Fleetwood test each other, they never lose sight of the case at hand—no matter how strange the details. Case by case, from missing loves to missing lovers, the two seasoned detectives slowly gain each other’s grudging respect. And no matter how vicious the jokes get, neither will ever crack a smile. Hard Line is the 2nd book in the Lt. Leroy Powder Novels, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

Synopsis Understanding Architecture Through Drawing by : Brian Edwards

This second edition is fully revised and updated and includes new chapters on sustainability, history and archaeology, designing through drawing and drawing in architectural practice. The book introduces design and graphic techniques aimed to help designers increase their understanding of buildings and places through drawing. For many, the camera has replaced the sketchbook, but here the author argues that freehand drawing as a means of analyzing and understanding buildings develops visual sensitivity and awareness of design. By combining design theory with practical lessons in drawing, Understanding Architecture Through Drawing encourages the use of the sketchbook as a creative and critical tool. The book is highly illustrated and is an essential manual on freehand drawing techniques for students of architecture, landscape architecture, town and country planning and urban design.

Synopsis Points on a Line by : D. L. Gentsch

Was the financial crisis of 2008 caused by a small group of greedy Wall Street bankers or was there something more sinister at work? Did it begin when free-market politicians gained control of Washington DC, or was it linked to a longer history, starting decades or even centuries ago? Points On A Line narrates an epic tale of manipulation of economic and political events by a secretive group of privileged citizens determined to regain control over the world order. For Jude Anders, the blue-collar kid of a single mom, the journey begins in campus protests of the Vietnam War. Fleeing to Toronto to dodge the draft, he meets eventual lifelong friend Anton Tomasin, an enigmatic young man adopted into wealth and privilege. Their apparently coincidental meeting sets the course of Jude's future, dragging him into the heart of American economic policy during the military coups in Chile and Argentina in the 1970s through the complicated chain of events that ultimately brought about the collapse of the world economy in 2008. As an advisor to the newly elected President with an intransigent Congress, Jude offers him a chance to reset America's financial future with a drastic economic elixir called Plan B.

Synopsis The Line Between by : Tosca Lee

In this frighteningly believable thriller from New York Times bestselling author and master storyteller Tosca Lee, an extinct disease re-emerges from the melting Alaskan permafrost and causes madness in its victims. For recent apocalyptic cult escapee Wynter Roth, it’s the end she’d always been told was coming. When Wynter Roth finally escapes from New Earth, a self-contained doomsday cult on the American prairie, she emerges into a world poised on the brink of madness as a mysterious outbreak of rapid early onset dementia spreads across the nation. As Wynter struggles to start over in a world she’s been taught to regard as evil, she finds herself face-to-face with the apocalypse she’s feared all her life—until the night her sister shows up at her doorstep with a set of medical samples. That night, Wynter learns there’s something far more sinister at play: that the prophet they once idolized has been toying with the fate of mankind, and that these samples are key to understanding the disease. Now, as the power grid fails and the nation descends into chaos, Wynter must find a way to get the samples to a lab in Colorado. Uncertain who to trust, she takes up with former military man Chase Miller, who has his own reasons for wanting to get close to the samples in her possession, and to Wynter, herself. Filled with action, conspiracy, romance, and questions of whom—and what—to believe, The Line Between is a high-octane story of survival and love in a world on the brink of madness, from “the queen of psychological twists” (New York Times bestselling author Steena Holmes).
