Synopsis Linda's Strange Vacation by : Marcus Huttning
One of the few '50s-era, Paris books, not by Olympia that's worth republishing. Originally released by the Montmarte-based "Oceanic Press," Huttning's Linda, for whatever it lacks in editing, more than makes up for it with style, thoroughness and imagination. The Linda of the story is a young girl on holiday at her Uncle Arthur's. Before she meets up with him, there's an encounter with a maid, a young virile cousin, then memorable scene(s) in her uncle's (a quiet-mannered author of guess what) study, comparisons with her sister, punishment, big parties, and so on. Clearly the author means well, and has read not a few of de Sade's writings.

Synopsis Evvie Drake Starts Over by : Linda Holmes
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Read with Jenna Book Club Pick as Featured on Today • “Everything a romantic comedy should be: witty, relatable, and a little complicated.”—People A heartfelt debut about the unlikely relationship between a young woman who’s lost her husband and a major league pitcher who’s lost his game. NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR In a sleepy seaside town in Maine, recently widowed Eveleth “Evvie” Drake rarely leaves her large, painfully empty house nearly a year after her husband’s death in a car crash. Everyone in town, even her best friend, Andy, thinks grief keeps her locked inside, and Evvie doesn’t correct them. Meanwhile, in New York City, Dean Tenney, former Major League pitcher and Andy’s childhood best friend, is wrestling with what miserable athletes living out their worst nightmares call the “yips”: he can’t throw straight anymore, and, even worse, he can’t figure out why. As the media storm heats up, an invitation from Andy to stay in Maine seems like the perfect chance to hit the reset button on Dean’s future. When he moves into an apartment at the back of Evvie’s house, the two make a deal: Dean won’t ask about Evvie’s late husband, and Evvie won’t ask about Dean’s baseball career. Rules, though, have a funny way of being broken—and what starts as an unexpected friendship soon turns into something more. To move forward, Evvie and Dean will have to reckon with their pasts—the friendships they’ve damaged, the secrets they’ve kept—but in life, as in baseball, there’s always a chance—up until the last out. A joyful, hilarious, and hope-filled debut, Evvie Drake Starts Over will have you cheering for the two most unlikely comebacks of the year—and will leave you wanting more from Linda Holmes. Praise for Evvie Drake Starts Over “A quirky, sweet, and splendid story of a woman coming into her own.”—Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & The Six “Effortlessly enjoyable . . . [a] pitch-perfect . . . adult love story that is as romantic as it is real.”–USA Today “Charming, hopeful, and gently romantic . . . Evvie Drake is great company.”—Rainbow Rowell, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Eleanor & Park

Synopsis Discover UK Shoegaze and Dream Pop by : Vernon Joynson
Discover UK Shoegaze and Dream Pop is an excellent comprehensive guide to the development of both genres in the UK. It includes detailed discographies, personnel details, biographies, analysis of their music and, where applicable, rarity ratings for all the 80s and 90s acts featured. You’ll recognise some names but several less well known acts are included too. There’s also a detailed postscript section on the re-emergence of Shoegaze and Dream Pop in the UK in the 21st century and the bands involved in it. This book is the latest in a quartet of books Vernon has written about UK music commencing with the Two Volume Tapestry of Delights (2014), A Sharp Shock To The System (2019) and The Britpop Bible (2022). These three previous titles appeared in print but in view of the cost of living crisis Discover UK Shoegaze and Dream Pop has been published digitally to reduce the retail price and make it affordable for more of you. You will discover a lot about UK Shoegaze and Dream Pop from this book, which is profusely illustrated throughout. There is nothing similar out there!

Synopsis Here's to Friends by : Melody Carlson
Once upon a time in a little town on the Oregon coast lived four Lindas--all in the same first-grade classroom. So they decided to go by their middle names. And form a club. And be friends forever. Decades later, they're all back home in Clifden and reinventing their lives, but the holidays bring a whole new set of challenges. Abby's new B&B is getting bad reviews and husband Paul is acting strange. Still grieving for her mom, Caroline is remodeling the family home, but boyfriend Mitch keeps pressuring her to go away with him. Artist Marley, distracted by a friend's family drama (and a touch of jealousy), can't find her creative groove. And Janie's drug-addicted daughter has just appeared up on her doorstep. When a long-planned New Year's cruise turns into a bumpy ride, they learn once again that, in your fifties, friends aren't just for fun--they're a necessity!
