To all intents and purposes, his talks upon art stand in the same relation to American painting asdid Reynold's Criticisms to English art, and it would be a most interesting thing to compare the refined and somewhat courtly discourse of our own countryman, with the terse, vigorous sen tences, half saxon-english and half New England slang, in which Mr. Hunt expressed his ideas.
