Synopsis Liam Shark Boy by : Stephanie Roberts
Four-and-a-half-year-old Liam loves all Marine Creatures, but particularly SHARKS. Liam's fantasy is to be able to embark on underwater ocean adventures and talk to Sharks. One sunny day, when he goes fishing with his Dad, he meets Dearborn, a Great Whale Shark. To Liam's great surprise his eyes begin to shine with amazing magical beams, which enables him to talk to Dearborn! The Big Shark tells him he is a special Shark Boy and they have been waiting for him to come to their world. Together with his Granddad, Liam embarks on a Marvelous Adventure full of fun in the Deep Sea, with Goutomi the Japanese Stingray, Maximillian Forbes, the very posh Lion Fish and Pufferbee the little Prickle Puffer-fish! An exciting, adventure bedtime story book for children ages 4 to 8 who love marine life. This beautifully illustrated book about a Shark is the first in the series of Liam Shark Boy's adventures. The pictures of fish and the ocean animals teach curious children about the habits of the sea animals in a fun way. Brian Read Healthy Mum's Magazine 5-star rating 30/10/19 Liam Shark Boy Review by Brian R. on 30 Oct 2019 Book Style: Toddler and Kids Story book Reading Level: 3 (Reading Alone due to: Length of book and some descriptive vocabulary) Reading Length: 10-15 minutes (FYI - we never account for toddler questions) Illustration: Fun, cartoonish, cute Age Target: 1-8 Years of Age When reviewing this book, I was concerned about the sheer length of the story. However, as I got into the story, I found that the author had presented the story in beautifully constructed stand-alone segments. Those segments make it incredibly easy to read this book with a toddler, as it's just like a new story (with the same characters) every couple of pages. What's more, the book appears long (with 48 pages), but the font is large, and the illustrations provide interesting pauses for the young reader. What you're left with is a book that's really well written for toddlers and children alike. Brian Read - Children's Books There are several things to be impressed with in Liam Shark Boy. One of my favorite things about the book was the fact that...it was filled with facts! There are easy 2-3 facts per page that I, as a parent, learned during the story. What's more, I know my child was learning 5-6 things per page and enjoying the in-depth knowledge he was gaining about the ocean and sea life in general. Another thing that I loved about the book was just how specific everything was. For example, it wasn't just a boat that Liam went on with his father. No, it was a Kingfisher Offshore boat. We weren't just talking about a Porcupine Puffer Fish (and his family), we were talking about Pufferbee and Pufferbee's grandfather, Grandpuff. It's this specificity that really helps with retention in toddlers, and I loved how this story was so intentional in its inclusion of specifics. I think it's obvious from my review (above) that I really enjoyed Liam Shark Boy. Not only that, but my little boy enjoyed it just as much as I did, and isn't that what's important? He loved the magical story, the fact that Liam had super powers, and he loved all of the facts about the oceans and sea life. What's more, the story has been awarded a 2016 eLit Award in the Children's Books section, which should tell you all you need to know.

Synopsis The Boy Who Lived with Dragons by : Andy Shepherd
"Readers with high-maintenance pets (or, for that matter, brand-new siblings) will wince in sympathy even as they laugh at the gross bits".--Booklist "This follow-up to The Boy Who Grew Dragons(2020) is an accessible jumping-in point for new readers, providing enough worldbuilding (and well-timed potty humor) to be inviting.Ogilvie's black-and-white illustrations are absolutely adorable and, coupled with the clever marginalia (such as pages that appear singed), make for heightened visual interest."--Kirkus Reviews Tomas has a secret-a big secret. He has his own tiny dragon, Flicker! A dragon which grew on a very special tree at the bottom of his grandad's garden. And not only that-his friends Ted, Kai, and Kat have dragons too, all grown on the same dragon fruit tree! When the fire-breathing kicks in and you get singed every five seconds, it's like having an unpredictable volcano in your pocket. Learning to train the dragons and keep them out of trouble at school and home will take all Tomas's creativity and patience. But there's a problem Tomas didn't see coming. The dragon fruit tree is starting to look droopy and unwell. Tomas and his friends have got to do all they can restore it to health and uncover its deepest mysteries, as well as trying to work out what big secret local bully Liam, "King of Trouble," has got up his sleeve. Synopsis Zombies, Frat Boys, Monster Flash Mobs by : Ted Neill
Liam Reilly is an unattached, occasionally delinquent, teenage ward of the state. He lives in a university workshop. He rides a bike made of bamboo. His best friend is an AI named Eiann.Oh, he’s a genius too.Liam is content with his life, until a demon named Narvicous Scalegrim Gorgonzola Grimmold Maximus the Terrible (Gerald for short) appears in his workshop eating Cheez-Its and twerking to Cardi B. When a bunch of frat boys open a gate to hell in their basement foosball lounge, it falls on Liam, Eiann, and Gerald to stop the demon army waiting on the other side. Liam—an avowed loner—is stuck working with a bunch of other social outcasts: Jeanie, a T-shirt entrepreneur; her excessively “woke” cousin Mitchell; their androgynous friend Jax a.k.a. Jax Vader a.k.a. DJ Max Spinz; and a mysterious, wise-cracking, East African ninja-assassin, Esmeralda—who also happens to be blind—except when she visits other dimensions; that’s a different story. Thrown together with a busload of Latin children trying to escape a migrant detention facility and an underworld demigod, Liam and his lab partners—Eww, please don’t call them friends—basically have to save the world. If they can manage to save each other first.Zombies, Frat Boys, Monster Flash Mobs is what you get when you take the supernatural capers of Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus Sequence, add in the unabashed nerdiness of Hank Green’s An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, followed by a helping of the irreverent edginess of an Angie Thomas novel. Zombies, Frat Boys, Monster Flash Mobs is current. It is socially relevant. Don’t call it a sequel! It’s not. But it is a part of an interconnected world, the Snog Team Six Series, with some returning characters, reoccurring themes, not to mention some running jokes—if you are hip enough to get them, wink wink, nudge nudge. Challenge accepted?
