Synopsis Leadership Explosion by : Joel Comiskey

This book has been completely revised in 2022. Notice what others have said about this book: If your groups need more leaders, this book is for you! Dr. Comiskey demonstrates how effective churches develop leaders. Then he shows you how to do the same by outlining the principles of leadership development that will work in any church. This book will revolutionize your future ministry (C. Peter Wagner Chancellor, Wagner Leadership Institute) Many thanks to Comiskey for a helpful and practical book. Many church growth strategies work in the short run, but only leadership multiplication creates ongoing kingdom expansion. This book communicates biblical, proven and effective principles. My advice to you: "Eat this book!" Let it shape your heart, your vision and strategy (Jim Egli, Author, Pastor, and TOUCH Trainer) Joel Comiskey shares insights as a leader who has himself raised up numerous leaders. From how to recognize potential leaders to cell leader training to time-tested principles of leadership, this book has it all. The accurate comparisons of various training models make it a great resource for those who desire more leaders. Great book! (Billy Hornsby, National Director, Bethany Cell Church Network) Comiskey provides an inspiring panoramic view of leadership in this book. The concluding chapters, which outline the guidelines, models and principles for training effective cell group leaders, will prove especially helpful to churches that are seeking to deal with leadership issues (Karen Hurston, Hurston Ministries) Once again, Joel Comiskey has provided a book that answers the questions of those in the cell church movement. I read the manuscript with pen in hand, underlining so many sentences that few were left untouched! This book will be an excellent reference for cell leaders and might well be incorporated into their ongoing training (Ralph W. Neighbour, Jr., Founder, TOUCH Outreach Ministries) Joel has the divine ability to take vital kingdom information compiled from throughout the body of Christ and boil it down so churches can clearly understand and practically apply these truths. I highly recommend this book for everyone who is serious about training leaders for the harvest (Larry Kreider, International Director, DOVE Christian Fellowship International)

Synopsis Home Cell Group Explosion by : Joel Comiskey

Home Cell Group Explosion (2023 version) is the most researched and practical book ever written on cell group evangelism! Joel Comiskey traversed the globe to find out why certain churches and small groups are successful in reaching the lost. He found the answers and freely shares them within this volume. If you are a pastor or small group leader, you should devour this book! It will encourage you and give you simple, practical steps for dynamic small group life and growth. My friend Joel Comiskey is a combination of a local church practitioner and a painstaking scholar. Joel spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars visiting eight of the highest-visibility cell group churches to interview their leaders and record his findings. I love this book because it focuses on the multiplication of cells for the greatest evangelistic results. (C.Peter Wagner, Author, Scholar, and Church Growth Expert) Comiskey does not just describe what is happening in cell churches. He takes the next step and identifies in a step-by-step fashion how we can apply these principles in our churches. It is all here-everything we need to know to start and grow a cell group ministry. I am grateful to Dr. Comiskey, for the time, effort, and research that has gone into producing this long-needed book. (Richard Peace, Ph.D., Professor of Evangelism and Spiritual Formation, Fuller Theological Seminary) Joel and I shared many days in Bogota as this book was written. His grasp of cell church models is superior to any other person I have worked with: this book is a treasure of information for church planters and pastors wishing to transition to the cell model. Synopsis SACRIFICIAL SERVANT LEADER by : PIOUS JOSEPH PAUL YANZUH

This book discusses how these lay persons are inspired to lead, serve, and nurture congregations. Using the model which Jesus taught on servant leadership – “the son of man came to serve and not to be served” (Matt 20:28; Mk 10:45), an exploration is conducted on the concept of servant leadership, the characteristics and behaviors of sacrificial servant leaders, and the environmental factors that motivate sacrificial servant leaders to be effective in the Church. The purpose of this book is to encourage and motivate leaders to be sacrificial servant leaders and to enhance an effective church ministry. In this contemporary era and more than ever before, there is a need for sacrificial servant leadership and team-work to cope with the needs of the congregation. However, I approach sacrificial Servant leadership as the process of serving followers towards growth through sacrificial and selfless stewardship based on the example of Jesus Christ viewed within the Christian faith. In essence, the concepts of “sacrificial”, “selflessness”, and “stewardship” are foundational and define the larger facets of sacrificial servant leadership.

Synopsis The Spirit-Filled Small Group by : Joel Comiskey

Small group resources tend to overlook the spiritual side of small group leadership. And yet most would agree that spiritual preparation is the most important aspect of leading a small group. Only God’s supernatural power can draw people to the truth and liberate them to be all that God wants them to be. Only through the Spirit’s power can we expect to see the miracles that Jesus talked about when He said that if we would abide in Him, we would bear much fruit and even do greater works than He did while He was on earth. The key distinction of this book is the spiritual perspective it gives to small group ministry. So much of the literature about small groups relates to small group technique and only touches briefly on the Spirit’s power. This book is a practical reference guide to help small group leadership begin to move in the supernatural realm. The book’s first priority is to help small group leaders and members trust the Holy Spirit to lead them, empower them and work in their group. Small group facilitators often sense a lack of guidance, power and spiritual authority. Jesus knew His disciples would be powerless without a touch from the Holy Spirit, and so He told them to wait in Jerusalem, saying, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Small group leaders need a power boost to make small group ministry relevant and exciting. The second priority of this book is to help the facilitator identify and mobilize each small group member to use his or her own spiritual gifts. Small group facilitators often feel ill-prepared to identify spiritual gifts of the people in the group. I firmly believe that the small group atmosphere is the perfect place to develop the gifts of the Spirit in each member’s life, and so it is essential that the facilitator know how to do this. Whatever denominational or non-denominational label a church wears, the most important characteristic, in my opinion, is promoting individual sensitivity, devotion and dependence on the Holy Spirit. In a Holy Spirit-charged atmosphere, cell leaders are best raised up and members are encouraged to minister in their giftedness. This book has been written for those who are leading (facilitating) a small group, participating in a small group or considering joining a small group. Group members should read this book for two particular reasons: First, members make a significant contribution to the life of the cell. Each member will be intimately involved in causing supernatural events to happen—using the gifts, intercession, etc. In the life of the group, no one is to sit back and do nothing. The best cell leaders, in fact, rarely “lead” the entire cell, instead encouraging cell members to participate actively. Second, members are the next in line to actually lead the small group. I am assuming that the readers of this book are believers who desire God and are seeking to walk in the Spirit. I am also assuming that those reading this book are studying the Bible and growing in their relationships with the Lord. There are many great books dedicated to defining each spiritual gift in detail. Many other authors cover gifts beyond the scope of this book, such as voluntary poverty, hospitality, celibacy, missions, exorcism, martyrdom, artistic creativity, craftsmanship and music. Rather than cover every possible gift, this book will focus on how the Spirit uses gifts in the small group context and guides the leader to facilitate a Spirit-filled group. Because this book is written to lay leadership rather than senior leaders of the Church, I will not cover in detail the five-fold offices that Paul mentioned in Ephesians 4.8 Instead, the gifts I will cover in this book are explicitly listed in Scripture (the one exception is intercessory prayer, which I call a spiritual gift although some would disagree).

Synopsis The Five Phases of Leadership by : Justyn Terry

The Five Phases of Leadership is a book written by a practitioner for practitioners. Organized around five stages of leadership – establishing trust, cultivating leaders, discerning vision, implementing plans and transitioning out – this book offers an overview of the leadership life cycle from a distinctively Christian perspective. Dr. Justyn Terry draws on over twenty years of leadership experience in seminaries and churches, to offer practical insight into a leader’s role. Rather than focusing primarily on leadership styles or skills, this book demonstrates why those skills matter in context. By focusing on a leader’s overall task, Dr. Terry offers a vision of leadership that draws together its disparate elements into a unified whole.

Synopsis The EQ Leader by : Steven J. Stein

A roadmap to success for tomorrow's leaders The EQ Leader provides an evidence-based model for exceptional leadership, and a four-pillar roadmap for real-world practice. Data collected from thousands of the world's best leaders—and their subordinates—reveals the keys to success: authenticity, coaching, insight, and innovation. By incorporating these methods into their everyday workflow, these leaders have propelled their teams to heights great enough to highlight the divide between successful and not-so-successful leadership. This book shows you how to put these key factors to work in your own practice, with clear examples and concrete steps for improving skills and competencies. New data from the author's own research into executive functioning describes the neurological aspects of leadership, and a deep look at the leaders of tomorrow delves into the fundamental differences that set them apart—and fuel their achievement. Leadership is changing, both in look and practice; strictly authoritative approaches are quickly losing ground as today's workers discover the power of collaboration and the importance of interpersonal awareness. This book provides step-by-step guidance for leading from within this space, with evidence-based approaches for success. Lead authentically to inspire and motivate others Support employee's needs and nurture development Communicate with purpose, meaning, and vision Foster ingenuity, imagination, and autonomous thinking An organization's success rests on the backs of its leadership. At all levels, true leadership is about much more than management and task distribution—it's about commitment, collaboration, nurturing talent, developing skills, fostering relationships, and so much more. The EQ Leader integrates the essential factors of successful leadership into a concrete blueprint for the future's leaders.

Synopsis Leadership and Cultural Change by : Ramona Houmanfar

Contemporary confluences of leadership decision-making and citizenship behavior often unintentionally contribute to the depletion of the world’s resources – escalating health, education, and social crises, as well as community, societal, and cultural struggles – to adapt to emerging global shifts. Leadership and management practices in this context affect the wellbeing of organizational members (e.g., their safety, health, financial security, etc.) but also entail positive or negative impacts on consumer practices and collective community well-being (e.g., education, obesity, cancer, safe or green driving, energy conservation, diversity based health care, etc.). Decision-making in most businesses and organizations is largely responsive to demands for short-term profit or cost minimization. On the consumer side, both cultural values and the corporate marketing practices that sustain them encourage high levels of consumption necessary to sustain corporate practices. In exploring the emerging applications of behavior science to these challenges, this book showcases emerging work by internationally recognized scholars on leadership and cultural change. The book will aid organizations and leaders in creating new models of stewardship, and will open opportunities for innovation while adapting and responding to growing social upheaval, technological advances, and environmental concerns, as well as crises in the global economy, health, education, and environment. This book was originally published as a special issue of the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management.
