Synopsis The Tear by : Laurel Faith Parker

Based on a true story, Laurel Faith Gables spent her first days on a field watching Daddy playing his sport of football. Spencer Gables was a hometown football star from the small rural town of Creeksdale, who made his way to his beloved North Mason College. His eyes were turned by oneJacqueline Carr from the city of Lawson. She was everything he ever wanted. After eloping, their love blossomed with the birth of their first child, Laurel. Upon graduation, the Gables moved to Lawson, where Spence was becoming a local icon in the world of football coaching. Life on Chester Chapel was beautiful, and the two were blessed with a baby boy, Cole. The couple longed for their goal of homeownership, and they were well on their way to achieving it. Spence and Jacqueline were living the American dream until the unthinkable happened, tearing the Gables family to shreds. Is the love of a daughter strong enough to bring their world back together, or will it forever be shattered? Laurel is forced onto a bridge and she cannot turn back. The only way to bring an end is to cross. For those who have lost deeply, want to love dearly, or know those who do. For those who want to consider is vengeance deserved?

Synopsis The Broadview Anthology of Seventeenth-Century Verse and Prose by : Alan Rudrum

The publication of The Broadview Anthology of Seventeenth-Century Verse and Prose is a literary event; this comprehensive volume is the first anthology of the period to reflect the breadth of seventeenth-century studies in recent decades. Over one hundred writers are included, from John Chamberlain at the beginning of the century to Elisabeth Singer Rowe at its end. There are generous selections from the work of all major writers, and a representation of the work of virtually every writer of significance. The work of women writers figures prominently, with extensive selections not only from canonical writers such as Behn and Bradstreet, but also from other writers (such as Katherine Philips and Margaret Cavendish) who have been receiving considerable scholarly attention in recent years. The anthology is broadly inclusive, with writing from America as well as from the British Isles. Memoirs, letters, political texts, travel writing, prophetic literature, street ballads, and pamphlet literature are all here, as is a full representation of the literary poetry and prose of the period, including the poetry of Jonson; the prose of Bacon; the metaphysical poetry of Donne, Herbert, Marvell, and others; the lyric verse of Herrick; and substantial selections from the poetry and prose of Milton and Dryden. (While Samson Agonistes is included in its entirety, Milton’s epic poems have been excluded, in order to allow space for other works not so readily accessible elsewhere.) The editors have included complete works wherever possible. A headnote by the editors introduces each author, and each selection has been newly annotated.

Synopsis Love Warps the Mind a Little: A Novel by : John Dufresne

Reissue of a favorite novel by “a generous and lyric storyteller” (San Francisco Chronicle) known for his tragicomic voice and unforgettable characters. Ever since Lafayette Proulx quit his day job, left his wife, hauled his dog and his Royal portable across town to Judi Dubey’s house, and set out at last to be a fiction writer, his life has been a sordid mess. Judi’s exotically dysfunctional family isn’t all to blame. Sure, the murders are disconcerting. And, yes, Judi’s father’s gone off the deep end. Worse are the vicious rejection letters Laf gets from editors. To top it off, Laf’s falling for Judi at the same time he’s nettled with guilt, is in marriage counseling with his wife, and is writing his long-hoped-for novel. When Judi is diagnosed with stage IV cancer, they both struggle to find the memory that will comfort, the truth that will redeem in a world where everyone suffers some kind of love disorder. John Dufresne, called “a highly readable Faulkner,” will once again take the literary world by storm with this new tragicomic tale.

Synopsis RISING TO MEET OUR TRANSFORMATION by : William E Leahy

Rising To Meet Our Transformation began as a few thoughts that mushroomed into many ideas that were in my poetic brain flow for quite awhile. Thus I began putting these thoughts into a wide array of poems on paper. Some of these poetic ideas the reader may closely relate to; yet other poetic words may still be more personal and private. As I wrote I allowed the flow of words and ideas to make their impact; then I changed and rearranged where the order and actual word composition required a better flow. Transformation was the key ingredient of this book and in many instances it will be just that. Nonetheless there are poetic thoughts that relate to a different type of change which may not be totally transforming, but at the same time be identifiable. My hope is that there will be a adequate array of poems that would spark the audience. Transformation requires a radical change in our thinking which translates into our personal life and living. Often we change to survive or become enamoured with a new idea that fills our void' so we change while our surroundings remain somewhat intact. Yet in real time our environment will recreate itself so we will eventually be transformed into a new age so let us begin! Bill Leahy December 2013

Synopsis Wherever the Stars Call by : S. Jean

Living within the Galactic Federation of the Solar System isn't all it's cracked up to be. Laurel got sold into strict federation schooling where if she doesn't shape up, they'll scramble her mind until she's no longer herself so they can build the perfect citizen out of her. Juniper got fitted with invasive cybernetics to augment the human experience at the tender age of eight and if they act up, the feds can turn them off--effectively killing them. So, the pair decide to run away together. All they need is to get past Jupiter where the fed's hold isn't as tight. There, Laurel can figure out what she wants in life free from fed control and Juniper can figure out how to stop their cybernetics from ruining their life. Easy, right? Not when they find a busted federation ship on the way with a vampire on board who might need their help with a severed head the federation is after, or perhaps, he just wants their blood. One of the two.
