Four pieces of memorabilia included in the book's pocket add vivid detail to this story of John Wayne's life. "Damn, I'm the stuff men are made of!" —John Wayne While people around the globe adore and cherish John Wayne, he remains the quintessential American icon. He embodied the definition of the American cowboy, soldier, and rugged individualist. Duke's extraordinary rise to fame—from hauling furniture around studio lots to becoming one of the most famous actors in the world—is chronicled in this handsome volume, complete with on-set and behind-the-scenes photographs, vintage movie posters, and cigarette cards from his most well-known movies. Clips of interviews, quotes from movies, and the testimony of the people he surrounded himself with tell the story of America's favorite western star. John Wayne Treasures contains a pocket in the back with four pieces of memorabilia spanning John Wayne's life and career. Since John Wayne's death in 1979, he has been the subject of the public's fascination and has become a folk legend, of sorts. John Wayne's character, with biting wit and grit, has grown far bigger than the man himself. While alive, he embodied the persona he created with pride, patriotism, determination, and integrity. Written by true and loyal fans, every aspect of the Duke's life is covered in this book.

But John Wayne Speaks is more than just a collection of the actor's movie lines. Orwoll has researched and written an in-depth introduction to Wayne's film career to put the quotes in a broader context. Movie-lovers will also appreciate the author's opinionated capsule reviews and production notes from Wayne's complete filmography. Synopsis The Lost Films of John Wayne by : Carolyn McGivern
In a career of more than fifty years'spanning the Golden Era from 1926 to 1976?Hollywood icon John Wayne created a treasure trove of movies. Today, scarcely an hour goes by without one of them appearing on television somewhere in the world. With most of the Wayne films available to his fans today, just a few of them remain unavailable in this era of remastered miracles. Of all the movies he made beyond the 1939 'Stagecoach' age, only two have been kept from the public: 'Island in the Sky' and 'The High and the Mighty.' Many reasons have been suggested for why the two films have been unavailable until the summer of 2005, from the thought that the original films were damaged and the copies were not good enough for additional distribution to the theory that they have been withheld for a future grand release. Whatever the reasons may be, 'The Lost Films of John Wayne' honors his work in both films and servesa as a loving portrayal of some fo the lesser-known images he left behind.

Synopsis Johnny and Me by : Barry E. Boschelli
Johnny and Me is a true story about my childhood experiences growing up in the northwest side of Chicago with John Wayne Gacy. This story details the everyday life experiences in my and Johnnys homes. Details of our families are in the book along with the understanding of each of our parents as they raised us in the 1940s and 1950s. Many of these stories included are of my personal life before Johnny came on the scene in order to let the reader understand my point of view as my life unfolded. I have tried to show you the Johnny that I remember as a childhood friend and I hope that I have been as accurate as I can be on this subject. Various moments of joy, anger, and fear are shared between the two of us as we tried to have a normal childhood in the midst of anxiety and confusion that was brought on by our fathers abuse of alcohol and demanding personalities. The story portrays how our environments molded our characters and helped us to make choices in our adult lives. Details regarding our reactions to everyday events supply hints of how Johnny and I would function in our separate social worlds as we matured. Johnnys possessive nature is described as we went playing normal childhood games and making new friends. His religious experiences are mentioned and a complete description of his controlling personality is shared as one of Johnnys ways to cope with his surroundings. Other details of Johnnys life are revealed such as his early desire to be in the spotlight of social applause. The book concludes with my personal emotions about a friend whose life went the wrong way. His childhood, along with my own, could have been different.

Once again ensconced in his quaintly appointed Lower Manhattan loft, Kinky Friedman - Ace Private Eye - takes on the deceptively tame assignment of helping his pal Ratso find his true birth mother. The trail shifts to Miami Beach, then back to Manhattan, and finally ends in the posh New York suburb of Chappaqua, where wrongs get righted, rights get read and readers get the full benefit of Kinky's irreverent wit and hilarious wisdom. It is the Kinkster at his considerable best.
