Synopsis Handbook of Internet and Multimedia Systems and Applications by : Borko Furht
Today, multimedia applications on the Internet are still in their infancy. They include personalized communications, such as Internet telephone and videophone, and interactive applications, such as video-on-demand, videoconferencing, distance learning, collaborative work, digital libraries, radio and television broadcasting, and others. Handbook of Internet and Multimedia Systems and Applications, a companion to the author's Handbook of Multimedia Computing probes the development of systems supporting Internet and multimedia applications. Part one introduces basic multimedia and Internet concepts, user interfaces, standards, authoring techniques and tools, and video browsing and retrieval techniques. Part two covers multimedia and communications systems, including distributed multimedia systems, visual information systems, multimedia messaging and news systems, conference systems, and many others. Part three presents contemporary Internet and multimedia applications including multimedia education, interactive movies, multimedia document systems, multimedia broadcasting over the Internet, and mobile multimedia.

Synopsis Embedded and Multimedia Computing Technology and Service by : James J. (Jong Hyuk) Park
The 7th International Conference on Embedded and Multimedia Computing (EMC-12), will be held in Gwangju, Korea on September 6 - 8, 2012. EMC-12 will be the most comprehensive conference focused on the various aspects of advances in Embedded and Multimedia (EM) Computing. EMC-12 will provide an opportunity for academic and industry professionals to discuss the latest issues and progress in the area of EM. In addition, the conference will publish high quality papers which are closely related to the various theories and practical applications in EM. Furthermore, we expect that the conference and its publications will be a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in this important subject. The EMC-12 is the next event, in a series of highly successful International Conference on Embedded and Multimedia Computing, previously held as EMC 2011 (China, Aug. 2011), EMC 2010 (Philippines, Aug. 2010), EM-Com 2009 (Korea, Dec. 2009), UMC-08 (Australia, Oct. 2008), ESO-08(China, Dec. 2008), UMS-08 (Korea, April, 2008), UMS-07(Singapore, Jan. 2007), ESO-07(Taiwan, Dec. 2007), ESO-06(Korea, Aug. 2006).

Synopsis MULTIMEDIA COMPUTING by : Dr.Tariq Hussain
"The topic of multimedia is speedily becoming an essential in computer science and engineering prospectuses, exclusively now that multimedia touches most facets of these fields. Multimedia was originally seen as an upright application area; that is, a niche application with approaches that belong only to itself. However, like pervasive computing, multimedia is now principally a parallel application area and forms an imperative component of the study of computer graphics, image processing, databases, real-time systems, operating systems, information retrieval, computer networks, computer vision, and so on. Multimedia is no longer just a toy but forms part of the technological environment in which we work and think. This book fills the need for a College & university-level text that examines a good deal of the central outline computer science sees as belonging to this subject area. Multimedia has become allied with a certain set of issues in computer science and engineering, and we address those here. The book is not an introduction to simple design issues—it serves a more progressive audience than that. On the other hand, it is not a reference work — it is more a traditional textbook. While we inevitably discuss multimedia tools, we would like to give a sense of the underlying ideologies in the tasks those tools carry out. Students who undertake and succeed in a course based on this text can be said to really understand fundamental matters in regard to this material; hence the title of the text. In conjunction with this text, a fullfledged course should also allow students to make use of this knowledge to carry out interesting or even wonderful practical projects in multimedia, interactive projects that engage and sometimes amuse and, perhaps, even teach these same concepts. The book Multimedia & Computing comprehends five chapters for skill development course of B.A/B.Sc/ BCA Semester 5th according to the syllabus of University of Jammu, which inculcates theoretical & practical portions."

Synopsis Intelligent Interactive Assistance and Mobile Multimedia Computing by : Djamshid Tavangarian
TheIMC2009programconsistedofthreeinvitedtalksfrominternational- perts, four tutorials on fundamental techniques related to the conference topics, nine regular paper sessions, and a short paper / poster session. We received close to 50 submissions from 15 countries world-wide. Based on the ano- mous reviews provided by members of the international Program Committee, the Steering Committee recommended accepting 50% of the contributions as regular papers and another 15% as short papers with poster presentation. To our regret there were a few interesting papers that we had to reject. However, the reviewing results showed a high quality as well as an interesting variety of submissions. We would like to thank all authors for carefully preparing the results of their worksubmitted to IMC 2009,thus enabling an interesting and high-quality c- ferenceprogram. Moreover, wearedeeplygratefultoallmembersoftheProgram and Steering Committees for their e?orts in quickly and thoroughly evaluating the papers. Finally, our special thanks go to the organizers Ulrike Lucke and Daniel Versick for their great work. They handled all the organizationaltasks as well as the communications, the electronic submission, reviewing, and publi- tion procedure in an e?cient and timely manner.

Synopsis Multimedia, Computer Graphics and Broadcasting by : Dominik Slezak
As future generation information technology (FGIT) becomes specialized and fr- mented, it is easy to lose sight that many topics in FGIT have common threads and, because of this, advances in one discipline may be transmitted to others. Presentation of recent results obtained in different disciplines encourages this interchange for the advancement of FGIT as a whole. Of particular interest are hybrid solutions that c- bine ideas taken from multiple disciplines in order to achieve something more signi- cant than the sum of the individual parts. Through such hybrid philosophy, a new principle can be discovered, which has the propensity to propagate throughout mul- faceted disciplines. FGIT 2009 was the first mega-conference that attempted to follow the above idea of hybridization in FGIT in a form of multiple events related to particular disciplines of IT, conducted by separate scientific committees, but coordinated in order to expose the most important contributions. It included the following international conferences: Advanced Software Engineering and Its Applications (ASEA), Bio-Science and Bio-Technology (BSBT), Control and Automation (CA), Database Theory and Application (DTA), D- aster Recovery and Business Continuity (DRBC; published independently), Future G- eration Communication and Networking (FGCN) that was combined with Advanced Communication and Networking (ACN), Grid and Distributed Computing (GDC), M- timedia, Computer Graphics and Broadcasting (MulGraB), Security Technology (SecTech), Signal Processing, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition (SIP), and- and e-Service, Science and Technology (UNESST).
