This paper discusses the Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (I-PRSP) of Grenada for poverty reduction in the interim period. It describes the country’s macroeconomic, structural, and social policies in support of growth and poverty reduction, as well as associated external financing needs and major sources of financing. It reviews the National Poverty Eradication Strategy and analyzes the monitoring indicators, risks and costing of the strategy. It assesses the national development plan aimed at attaining the Millennium Development Goals.

Liberia’s Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy (iPRS) sets out the emerging process and framework for recovery and reconstruction in the context of post-conflict Liberia. The iPRSP sets out the national socio-economic context, the preparatory process, dimensions of the emerging policy, capacity-building and program choices and priorities for poverty reduction and development, as well as anticipated implementation challenges. It also represents a further opportunity for deepening Liberia's development partnership. Liberia needs to be rebuilt at all levels of the public sector, private sector, and civil society.

This Joint Staff Advisory Note focuses on the Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (I-PRSP) for Haiti. The I-PRSP outlines the main areas of actions envisaged by the authorities to reduce poverty as well as the steps to be undertaken in the preparation of the full Poverty Reduction Strategy. The I-PRSP presents a good diagnostic of the current dimensions of poverty in Haiti. It also covers well the authorities’ macroeconomic objectives and the broad measures necessary to reach these objectives.

This paper focuses on Sudan’s Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (I-PRPS). I-PRSP will support existing planning and budgeting instruments, including the 3-Year Salvation Economic Program (SEP) 2012–2014 and the 5-Year Development Plan (2012–2016), by strengthening the prioritization of actions and targeting poverty. The 3-Year SEP is an emergency plan to deal with the adjustment to new political and economic realities following the decision of the South to secede. I-PRSP will also help to fine tune the preparation and implementation of the SEP and a new 5-year Plan, and provide a foundation for the full PRSP.

In this paper, the implementation of the activities under the interim poverty reduction strategy and progress toward the elaboration of poverty reduction strategy are described. Institutional framework is strengthened by the creation of the inter-ministerial committee on the implementation of the National Strategy for Poverty Reduction. The goal is to identify priorities and strategies at the community level, and their capacity to operationalize sectoral and thematic poverty reduction strategies. The macroeconomic and financial situation has been stabilized. The poverty reduction strategy budget has been prepared on the basis of detailed cost estimates for each task.
