This book develops a new system of modeling and simulations based on intelligence system. As we are directly moving from Third Industrial Revolution (IR3.0) to Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), there are many emergence techniques and algorithm that appear in many sciences and engineering branches. Nowadays, most industries are using IR4.0 in their product development as well as to refine their products. These include simulation on oil rig drilling, big data analytics on consumer analytics, fastest algorithm for large-scale numerical simulations and many more. These will save millions of dollar in the operating costs. Without any doubt, mathematics, statistics and computing are well blended to form an intelligent system for simulation and modeling. Motivated by this rapid development, in this book, a total of 41 chapters are contributed by the respective experts. The main scope of the book is to develop a new system of modeling and simulations based on machine learning, neural networks, efficient numerical algorithm and statistical methods. This book is highly suitable for postgraduate students, researchers as well as scientists that have interest in intelligent numerical modeling and simulations.

We describe in this book, new methods for evolutionary design of intelligent s- tems using soft computing and their applications in modeling, simulation and c- trol. Soft Computing (SC) consists of several intelligent computing paradigms, including fuzzy logic, neural networks, and evolutionary algorithms, which can be used to produce powerful hybrid intelligent systems. The book is organized in four main parts, which contain a group of papers around a similar subject. The first part consists of papers with the main theme of evolutionary design of fuzzy systems in intelligent control, which consists of papers that propose new methods for designing and optimizing intelligent controllers for different applications. The second part c- tains papers with the main theme of evolutionary design of intelligent systems for pattern recognition applications, which are basically papers using evolutionary al- rithms for optimizing modular neural networks with fuzzy systems for response - tegration, for achieving pattern recognition in different applications. The third part contains papers with the themes of models for learning and social simulation, which are papers that apply intelligent systems to the problems of designing learning - jects and social agents. The fourth part contains papers that deal with intelligent s- tems in robotics applications and hardware implementations. In the part of Intelligent Control there are 5 papers that describe different c- tributions on evolutionary optimization of fuzzy systems in intelligent control. The first paper, by Ricardo Martinez-Marroquin et al.

This book aims to provide a description of these new Artificial Intelligence technologies and approaches to the modeling and simulation of complex systems, as well as an overview of the latest scientific efforts in this field such as the platforms and/or the software tools for smart modeling and simulating complex systems. These tasks are difficult to accomplish using traditional computational approaches due to the complex relationships of components and distributed features of resources, as well as the dynamic work environments. In order to effectively model the complex systems, intelligent technologies such as multi-agent systems and smart grids are employed to model and simulate the complex systems in the areas of ecosystem, social and economic organization, web-based grid service, transportation systems, power systems and evacuation systems.

In this book, internationally recognized experts in philosophy of science, computer science, and modeling and simulation are contributing to the discussion on how ontology, epistemology, and teleology will contribute to enable the next generation of intelligent modeling and simulation applications. It is well understood that a simulation can provide the technical means to display the behavior of a system over time, including following observed trends to predict future possible states, but how reliable and trustworthy are such predictions? The questions about what we can know (ontology), how we gain new knowledge (epistemology), and what we do with this knowledge (teleology) are therefore illuminated from these very different perspectives, as each experts uses a different facet to look at these challenges. The result of bringing these perspectives into one book is a challenging compendium that gives room for a spectrum of challenges: from general philosophy questions, such as can we use modeling and simulation and other computational means at all to discover new knowledge, down to computational methods to improve semantic interoperability between systems or methods addressing how to apply the recent insights of service oriented approaches to support distributed artificial intelligence. As such, this book has been compiled as an entry point to new domains for students, scholars, and practitioners and to raise the curiosity in them to learn more to fully address the topics of ontology, epistemology, and teleology from philosophical, computational, and conceptual viewpoints.
