Synopsis Total Quality Management and Operational Excellence by : John S. Oakland
The notion of 'Quality' in business performance has exploded since the publication of the first edition of this classic text in 1989. Today there is a plethora of performance improvement frameworks including lean–Six Sigma and the latest version of ISO 9001, offering an often confusing variety of ways to achieve business excellence. Quality guru John Oakland’s famous TQM model, in many ways a precursor to these frameworks, has evolved to become the ultimate holistic overview of performance improvement strategy. Incorporating the frameworks that succeeded it, the revised model redefines Quality by: Accelerating change Reducing cost Protecting reputation The popular, practical, jargon-free writing style, along with ten supporting case studies, effortlessly ties the model to its real-life applications, making it easy to understand how to apply what you’ve learned to your practices and achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Guiding readers through the language of TQM and OpEx and all their recent developments, including data analytics, this book sets out a clear way to manage change. This exciting update of a classic is all the busy student or professional will need to begin understanding how to manage Quality and achieve Operational Excellence.

Synopsis Information Assurance by : Andrew Blyth
When you first hear the term Information Assurance you tend to conjure up an image of a balanced set of reasonable measures that have been taken to protect the information after an assessment has been made of risks that are posed to it. In truth this is the Holy Grail that all organisations that value their information should strive to achieve, but which few even understand. Information Assurance is a term that has recently come into common use. When talking with old timers in IT (or at least those that are over 35 years old), you will hear them talking about information security, a term that has survived since the birth of the computer. In the more recent past, the term Information Warfare was coined to describe the measures that need to be taken to defend and attack information. This term, however, has military connotations - after all, warfare is normally their domain. Shortly after the term came into regular use, it was applied to a variety of situations encapsulated by Winn Schwartau as the three classes of Information Warfare: Class 1- Personal Information Warfare. Class 2 - Corporate Information Warfare. Class 3 - Global Information Warfare. Political sensitivities lead to "warfare" being replaced by "operations", a much more "politically correct" word. Unfortunately, "operations" also has an offensive connotation and is still the terminology of the military and governments.

Synopsis Criminal Justice by : Philip P. Purpura
Criminal Justice: An Introduction is a complete introductory text for the most basic and widely-studied course in this subject area. Each chapter begins with behavioral objectives and a list of key terms. A variety of strategies are designed into the text to hold the attention of reader: key terms in bold lettering, side margin notes (containing interesting facts and challenging questions), boxed justice events and international perspectives, and over 80 photographs, tables and figures. Each chapter ends with applications that enable the student to apply the material to real life situations. This text competes with larger books by offering a complete but succinct and less expensive introduction to criminal justice, which will be more manageable for community colleges and colleges with shorter terms. The instructor's manual will assist educators with special projects and test questions and answers. The accompanying disk challenges students with interactive exercises. An excellent entry-level textbook for undergraduate criminal justice students. Written by an instructor of criminal justice and security for over 20 years. Includes an instructor's manual and a disk with interactive exercises for students.
