Synopsis Imposters on the Zoom! by : John Buie

A practical guide to sales lead generation for marketing managers, sales leaders, owners & operators of B2B companies. We wrote this book because there’s an epidemic of imposter syndrome in marketing and sales professionals working in business-to-business (B2B). It was there when we started in B2B marketing 20+ years ago and it’s here today. We felt it at the beginning. And the feeling took years to overcome. You know what it’s like: I’m not a chemist. How can I market to our lab customers with any authority? I can’t even assemble my Ikea bookshelf without the instructions. How can I sell the value of these sawmills to the pulp and paper industry? The last time I tried to operate a skid steer, I was 17, and I almost flipped it. Who’s going to buy one from me when all I can tell them is they won’t flip over? I pay someone to change my car’s tires. I’ll never be able to convince Bridgestone our company’s rubber is going to make their molds more durable. After a lot of trial and error. A lot marketing books and B2B sales podcasts. A lot of long nights looking at digital marketing analytics data. A lot of detailed analyses of competing B2B brands we were freed from our own imposter syndromes. And we built a sales lead generation process that seemed logical and thorough for ourselves. We used it (still do). And it worked (still does). And even though your B2B business is unique, your online marketing challenges aren’t entirely. Getting sales leads is a heck of an ongoing challenge every B2B faces. Today, imposters unite! This book will help you overcome your imposter syndrome and teach you how to generate more sales leads with a straightforward evergreen sales-lead-generating-strategy. You’ll come out of this with more valuable, practical knowledge than the people in your B2B industry who look confident, but should actually be frozen solid by their imposter syndrome. With this book in your hands, you’ll be able to generate more inbound sales leads yourself, generate more with in-house resources, or direct and audit your 3rd party digital marketing agencies better. Your power will be increased 100X. The roadmap you used to achieve sales success in the past is in tatters. Your new roadmap has that fresh book smell in your hands. And what good would a map be without a peppering of hidden treasures? A keen eye will read this and learn important lessons about: 1. Overcoming imposter syndrome by overcoming your ideas about uniqueness. 2. Communicating with developers and designers. 3. Using AI to build remarkably deep buyer personas. 4. Selling to and working with Creators, Curators, and Conductors. 5. Doing more marketing with fewer staff. 6. Finding creative, engaging, and unique angles to speak to the humans behind B2B - something more like B2BE (the business to business end user) 7. Training and developing sales staff with less effort, a gentle learning curve, and awesome outcomes. 8. Why evergreen is the key B2B. 9. Focusing your energy on selling more B2B products that are behavior changing. 10. Finding and winning specific windows of opportunity when your sales prospect is in an elevated buying mindset. 11. Leaning on your brand story to motivate GenZ and attract marketing and sales talent. 12. The marketing mistakes brands from budding to behemoth make, and positioning yours smarter. Why listen to us instead of the "influencers"? Everything you’ve read in the last 5 minutes resonates with you. We’re practitioners in the same seat as you, and we generated more than 36,000 sales leads for our B2B manufacturers and distributors in 2023. That’s our 10th straight year doing it. We poured our experience into this book for two additional reasons (other than the imposter syndrome issue). To make money. To help you make money.

Synopsis Imposters by : Chris Collins

A study of pronominal agreement with imposters, third person DPs (this reporter, yours truly, my lord, Madam) that denote the speaker or addressee. Normally, a speaker uses a first person singular pronoun (in English, I, me, mine, myself) to refer to himself or herself. To refer to a single addressee, a speaker uses second person pronouns (you, yours, yourself). But sometimes third person nonpronominal DPs are used to refer to the speaker—for example, this reporter, yours truly—or to the addressee—my lord, the baroness, Madam (Is Madam not feeling well?). Chris Collins and Paul Postal refer to these DPs as imposters because their third person exterior hides a first or second person core. In this book they study the interactions of imposters with a range of grammatical phenomena, including pronominal agreement, coordinate structures, Principle C phenomena, epithets, fake indexicals, and a property of pronominal agreement they call homogeneity. Collins and Postal conclude that traditional ideas about pronominal features (person, number, gender), which countenance only agreement with an antecedent or the relation of the pronoun to its referent, are much too simple. They sketch elements of a more sophisticated view and argue for its relevance and explanatory power in several data realms. The fundamental proposal of the book is that a pronoun agrees with what they call a source, where its antecedent constitutes only one type of source. They argue that the study of imposters (and closely related camouflage DPs) has far-reaching consequences that are inconsistent with many current theories of anaphora.

Tessa is a Variant, able to absorb the DNA of anyone she touches and mimic their appearance. Shunned by her family, she's spent the last two years with the Forces with Extraordinary Abilities, a secret branch of the FBI. There she trains with other Variants, such as long-term crush Alec, who each have their own extraordinary ability. When a serial killer rocks a small town in Oregon, Tessa is given a mission: she must impersonate Madison, a local teen, to find the killer before he strikes again. Synopsis Youngbloods (Impostors, Book 4) by : Scott Westerfeld

IT'S TIME TO COME OUT OF HIDING Frey has spent her life in a family of deceivers, a stand-in for her sister, manipulated at her father's command. Free from them at last, she is finding her own voice -- and using it to question everything her family stood for. Tally was once the most famous rebel in the world. But for over a decade, she's kept to the shadows, allowing her myth to grow even as she receded. Now she sees that the revolution she led has not created a stable world. Freedom, she observes, has a way of destroying things. As the world is propelled further into conflict and conspiracy, Frey and Tally join forces to put a check on the people in power, while still trying to understand their own power and where it belongs. With Youngbloods, master storyteller Scott Westerfeld decisively brings back his most iconic character and merges his Impostors and Uglies series into a breathtaking tale of rivalry, rebellion, and repercussion.

Synopsis Impostors in the Temple by : Martin Anderson

"Impostors in the Temple is a hard-hitting, eye-opening book about the decaying moral and intellectual state of American universities and colleges today--about why things have gone so wrong, and what we can do to set them right." "The university is the intellectual engine of America. It is here future leaders are trained, national policy is framed, and standards for our huge educational infrastructure are established. Yet today, despite the staggering costs of a college education, our institutions are not making the grade. The fault lies not with the students, who are brighter than ever, but with the faculties, administrations, and trustees into whose hands we deliver our best young minds." "Martin Anderson--domestic policy adviser to two presidents and himself a member of the academic establishment for over three decades--takes American academics to task in this stirring book, sure to be hailed for its scope and clarity. Cutting through political excuses that have gone awry, Anderson addresses the simpler, unuttered truths: how irrelevant the work of our intellectals has become; how corrupt practices are rampant in our universities; how academic elitism has destroyed academic integrity; how too many of our professors are not qualified to teach; how too often it is not professors but students who are relegated to do the teaching; how trustees and administrators are shunning responsibility and looking the other way; and how, by accepting the status quo, Americans are mortgaging their children's educational futures." "In clear, vivid prose, Anderson names names, marshals statistics, turns conventional wisdom on its ear, and makes us understand how serious things have become. More important, he offers us dramatic solutions." "As provocative as Allan Bloom's The Closing of the American Mind and Dinesh D'Souza's Illiberal Education, Martin Anderson's Impostors in the Temple is sure to raise hackles, spur debate, and fire our imaginations on how to revitalize an American community that processes millions of our young at so steep a cost."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
