Synopsis Hypnotherapy and Hypnoanalysis by : D. P. Brown

First published in 1986. Scientific hypnosis has made great advances particularly since World War II, both as part of basic psychological science concerned with the understanding of brain, mind, and personality and as a professional skill in which knowledge of hypnosis is used to serve human welfare by enhancing the quality of life for those who have the good fortune to benefit from hypnotherapy and the related practice of hypnoanalysis. The reader is brought abreast of these developments through the arrangement of the chapters into two sections of the book, with the first four chapters explaining the basics of hypnosis as an altered state of consciousness interpreted theoretically from several points of view.

Synopsis Hypnoanalysis by : Lewis R. Wolberg

Hypnoanalysis presents a critical review of a report on hypnoanalysis. The book discusses the advantages of this method; the the definite change in the functional organization of the patient; and the specific schizophrenic personality. Some of the topics covered in the text are the description of a hypnoanalysis case; the demonstration of the use of hypnosis in the treatment of a patient; and the developments in the application of the treatment. The narration of the patient's journal; the daily experiences of the patient as the treatment is continuing; and the dynamic interpretation of the experiment are also presented. The book further tackles the characteristics of the subject patient; the description of the emotions and behaviors of the patient; and the theory and practice of hypnoanalysis. A study of hypnoanalytic procedures is also presented. A chapter is devoted to the use of free association, dream induction, automatic writing, hypnotic drawing, crystal, and mirror gazing as a tool in treating the patient. The book can provide useful information to psychoanalysts, doctors, students, and researchers.

Synopsis Ideomotor Signals for Rapid Hypnoanalysis by : Dabney M. Ewin

In today's managed mental health care environment, clinical hypnosis has become popular as a tool for alleviating symptoms promptly. This book is about using ideomotor (IM) signals in the rapid hypnoanalysis of psychosomatic disorders. The technique of rapid hypnoanalysis addresses the whole brain and places the feeling back into brief therapy without removing the logic or the efficiency. It offers a refreshing alternative that allows therapists to go deeper while being even briefer. Part I covers basic concepts and principles. The value, principles, and treatment planning of hypnoanalysis are discussed, including special intake questions and how to set up ideomotor signals. Part II covers basic applications of rapid hypnoanalysis and illustrates their employment. The seven common causes of psychosomatic disorders, ideomotor applications to Direct Suggestion in Hypnosis (DSIH), hypnotic preparation and care of the surgical patient, self-hypnosis, and treating the cognitive and emotional components of persistent pain are examined. Part III presents clinical transcripts of cases to illustrate the actual uses of the technique with psychosomatic patients. These transcripts explore the technique with a complex smoking cessation patient, a simple smoking recall session, a one-visit cure of a hypersensitive scar, and a workshop demonstration session with an asthma patient. This is a "how-to" book that provides numerous case examples and illustrations showing specifically how ideomotor analysis techniques are used. Synopsis Creative Mastery in Hypnosis and Hypnoanalysis by : Margot L. Fass

The scope of Erika Fromm's profound contributions to the clinical and research literature in hypnosis and related areas is reflected in this volume, which consists of chapters written by those who have worked closely with the noted psychologist and/or have been significantly influenced by her. The subject matter presented here ranges from detailed accounts and personal observations relating to Fromm's distinguished career, to some very new and valuable data on the psychophysiological correlates of hypnosis, the phenomenology of self-hypnosis, and an integrative model for short-term therapy. Several extensions of clinical technique for the treatment of trauma and severe psychopathology are also discussed. Professional therapists with an interest in personal growth, self-awareness, and creative mastery, whether or not they already have an interest in hypnosis, will derive significant benefits from this book. Readers who have previously eschewed hypnosis may find that this volume stimulates an interest that enriches their clinical practice and/or research.

Synopsis Hypnosis by : Terence Watts

Hypnosis: Advanced Techniques of Hypnotherapy and Hypnoanalysis. Analytical Hypno-psychotherapy gains its strength from the fact that it is more flexible and more interactive than straightforward hypnoanalysis. We can work with a wider variety of psychological conditions and can even achieve positive results when working with the logical and analytical client. It is more interactive than hypnoanalysis, more flexible than 'direct regression' and allows the skilled worker enormous access to the individual workings of the client's psyche. We can work with people in their sixties and seventies, logical and analytical clients, individuals who are 'hypnophobic' or 'hypno-incapable', even those who strenuously seek to avoid confrontation with whatever trauma has caused their presenting problem. We can even work with those who have not experienced any trauma but are, in the words of the late C.G. Jung, "Suffering only from the problems of living." Conventional hypnoanalysis often appears to fail - usually because the therapist has not the training to recognise that he or she is using it for the 'wrong' type of symptom or the 'wrong' sort of client, more of which later. Hypnoanalysis is a relatively brief therapy, when taking into account the type of problem for which it is normally employed as a work methodology. The problem is that the oft-quoted 'eight to ten sessions' format is really only applicable when working within certain parameters - and there are many clients and their presenting problems who fall outside these guidelines. The advantage of the work methodology that we are looking at here is that it is far more versatile; its disadvantage is that we are not looking at a truly brief therapy here - we are looking at getting the client better and the timescale is going to vary enormously according to the client personality type and presenting difficulty. In any case, a conscientious therapist should completely ignore the "I can fix that in two sessions, what on earth are you doing?" brigade - therapy should never be a race. It is the emotional health and wellbeing of the client that is important, not the ego of the therapist. If you are looking for the "next level" of hypnotherapy, you have found it here. Experience the journey with Terence Watts.
