Synopsis Human Causes of the Trojan War by : Art Aeon
Human Causes of the Trojan War: Inner Journey into Human Nature {2} is a fictional narrative poem about possible human causes for the Trojan War. It unfolds imaginary dialogues among the characters Odysseus, Penelope, Nestor, Helen, and others in a numinous dream of Homer-Outis: the bard of The Odyssey. They discuss the beginning, the first nine years, and the fall of Troy in the tenth last year of the Trojan War. Nestor regrets that he wrongly persuaded the Greeks to invade Troy. Odysseus repents that he blindly strove to conquer Troy in vainglory. Helen reveals that insidious traitors within Troy plotted the Trojan War. The poem consists of two parts: Book 3: Reflections on the Trojan War by Nestor and Odysseus Book 4: Helen’s Crucial Revelations at her Death Human Causes of the Trojan War is the middle part {2} of an imaginary epic poem: Inner Journey into Human Nature.

Synopsis The Trojan War by : Diane P. Thompson
The Trojan War occurred more than 3,000 years ago. Since then, starting with Homer's epics, people have been writing, painting, sculpting and creating music about this event and its participants. This book starts with an overview of the Bronze Age when the Trojan War occurred, and then follows a selection of the major literature about this war from Homer down through the ages and on to the Internet. Each retelling of the Troy story is discussed in its historical context and includes a synopsis of the story itself. The ways of telling the story change over time. The main versions considered include Homer's Iliad and Odyssey; a selection of Classical Greek Dramas (especially Iphigenia at Aulis); Virgil's Aeneid; Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde; Guido delle Colonne's History of the Destruction of Troy; Racine's Iphigenia (at Aulis); Goethe's Iphigenia in Tauris; Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida; Joyce's Ulysses; and two feminist Troy novels, Sheri Tepper's The Gate to Women's Country and Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Firebrand. Instructors considering this book for use in a course may request an examination copy here.

Synopsis Munitions of the Mind by : Philip M. Taylor
A classic work, Munitions of the mind traces how propaganda has formed part of the fabric of conflict since the dawn of warfare, and how in its broadest definition it has also been part of a process of persuasion at the heart of human communication. Stone monuments, coins, broadsheets, paintings and pamphlets, posters, radio, film, television, computers and satellite communications - throughout history, propaganda has had access to ever more complex and versatile media. This third edition has been revised and expanded to include a new preface, new chapters on the 1991 Gulf War, information age conflict in the post-Cold War era, and the world after the terrorist attacks of September 11. It also offers a new epilogue and a comprehensive bibliographical essay. The extraordinary range of this book, as well as the original and cohesive analysis it offers, make it an ideal text for all international courses covering media and communications studies, cultural history, military history and politics. It will also prove fascinating and accessible to the general reader.
