Synopsis History and Applications by : Ahti-Veikko Pietarinen

In three comprehensive volumes, Logic of the Future presents a full panorama of Charles S. Peirce’s most important late writings. Among the most influential American thinkers, Peirce took his existential graphs to be a significant contribution to human thought. The manuscripts from 1895–1913, with many of them being published here for the first time, testify to the richness and open-endedness of his theory of logic and its applications. They also invite us to reconsider our ordinary conceptions of reasoning as well as the conventional stories concerning the evolution of modern logic. This first volume of Logic of the Future is on the historical development, theory and application of Peirce’s graphical method and diagrammatic reasoning. It also illustrates the abundant further developments and applications Peirce envisaged existential graphs to have on the analysis of mathematics, language, meaning and mind.

Synopsis The Twenty-Fifth Amendment by : John D. Feerick

Undisputed as the most important synthetic work on the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, this revised edition provides the latest in legal thought regarding presidential succession. This new edition of The Twenty-Fifth Amendment: Its Complete History and Applications updates John Feerick's landmark study with the Amendment's uses in the past twenty years and how those uses (along with new legal scholarship) have changed the Amendment and perceptions of presidential disability in general. In its formulation, the Twenty-fifth Amendment was criticized as vague and undemocratic, but it has made possible swift and orderly successions to the highest offices in the U.S. government during some of the most extraordinary events in American history. The extent of its authority has been tested over the years: During the Watergate crisis, it was proposed that the Amendment might afford a means by which a president could transfer presidential power during an impeachment proceeding, and it was also suggested that the Amendment could authorize a vice president and cabinet to suspend a president during a Senate impeachment trial. Where once presidential disability was stigmatized, today a president under general anesthesia cedes presidential authority for the length of the procedure with little controversy. The Twenty-fifth Amendment is evolving rapidly, and this book is an invaluable guide for legal scholars, government decision makers, historians, political scientists, teachers, and students studying the nation's highest offices.

Synopsis Monte Carlo Methods by : Thomas B. Hall

In this compilation, the authors first consider applying the Monte Carlo method to the general form of the heat equation that is used for analyzing conduction heat transfer. The Monte Carlo method is then extended to some convection heat transfer applications by representing the probabilistic interpretation of the energy equation to obtain the temperature profile.Following this, Monte Carlo Methods: History and Applications discusses the Monte Carlo methods needed for the estimation of the mean glandular dose in both digital mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis. Various breast anatomies are considered. The gradual development of the Monte Carlo method for solving problems of mathematical chemistry is considered. A comparison of various quantitative structure-property/activity relationships based on the Monte Carlo method is also presented.Lastly, the Monte Carlo technique is used to characterize the statistical distributions of received measurements in an electric energy power system, as well as to quantify the correlations among these variables. To check the numerical accuracy of the results, the point estimate algorithm is employed.

Synopsis Neural Networks by : Doug Alexander

"With respect to the ever-increasing developments in artificial intelligence and artificial neural network applications in different scopes such as medicine, industry, biology, history, military industries, recognition science, space, machine learning and etc., Neural Networks: History and Applications first discusses a comprehensive investigation of artificial neural networks. Next, the authors focus on studies carried out with the artificial neural network approach on the emotion recognition from 2D facial expressions between 2009 and 2019. The major objective of this study is to review, identify, evaluate and analyze the performance of artificial neural network models in emotion recognition applications. This compilation also proposes a simple nonlinear approach for dipole mode index prediction where past values of dipole mode index were used as inputs, and future values were predicted by artificial neural networks. The study was also conducted for seasonal dipole mode index prediction because the dipole mode index is more prominent in the Sep-Oct-Nov season. A subsequent study focuses on how mammography has a high false negative and false positive rate. As such, computer-aided diagnosis systems have been commercialized to help in micro-calcification detection and malignancy differentiation. Yet, little has been explored in differentiating breast cancers with artificial neural networks, one example of computer-aided diagnosis systems. The authors aim to bridge this gap in research. The penultimate chapter reviews the general conditions under which synaptic plasticity most effectively takes place to support the supervised learning of a precise temporal code. Then, the accuracy of each plasticity rule with respect to its temporal encoding precision is examined, and the maximum number of input patterns it can memorize using the precise timings of individual spikes as an indicator of storage capacity in different control and recognition tasks is explored. In closing, a case study is presented centered on an intelligent decision support system that is built on a neural network model based on the Encog machine learning framework to predict cryptocurrency close prices"--

Approach your problems from It isn't that they can't see the right end and begin with the solution. It is that they the answers. Then one day, can't see the problem. perhaps you will find the G.K. Chesterton. The Scandal of final question. Father Brown 'The Point of a Pin' . 'The Hermit Clad ~n Crane Feathers' in R. van Gulik's The Chinese Haze Murders. Growing specialization and diversification have brought a host of monographs and textbooks on increasingly specialized topics. However, the "tree" of knowledge of mathematics and related fields does not grow only by putting forth new branches. It also happens, quite often in fact, that branches which were thought to be completely disparate are suddenly seen to be related. Further, the kind and level of sophistication of mathe matics applied in various sciences has changed drastically in recent years: measure theory is used (non-trivially) ~n re gional and theoretical economics; algebraic geometry interacts with physics; the Minkowsky lemma, coding theory and the structure of water meet one another in packing and covering theory; quantum fields, crystal defects and mathematical pro gramming profit from homotopy theory; Lie algebras are rele vant to filtering; and prediction and electrical en~ineering can use Stein spaces. And in addition to this there are such new emerging subdisciplines as "completely integrable systems", "chaos, synergetics and large-scale order", which are almost impossible to fit into the existinf, classifi~ation schemes. They draw upon widely different sections of mathematics.

Synopsis Photochemistry, History and Commercial Applications of Hexaarylbiimidazoles by : Rolf Dessauer

The objective of this book is to acquaint the reader with a novel class of photochemical oxidants and polymerization initiators that have become widely accepted in industry. As most of the work with these materials is reported in the patent literature, an effort has been made to study this area of scientific activity, as well as present a thorough review of the journal publications. Photochemistry, History and Commercial Applications of HABIs also presents new technologies such as waveguides, holography along with some more traditional applications (i.e. filters, litho plates, and photoresists). - A complete review of technology associated with hexaarylbiimidazoles
