Synopsis He Still Speaks in Parables and Revelation Volume II by : Terri Beavers

I remember a time in my earlier days, when problems would arise, I would be scared, confused, and needing answers, so I would run to God. I knew He could solve any problem I had, so I would chase Him hard, reading His Word, going to church, praying, and being mindful of Him all day long. Well, once my problem was solved, once the waters calmed down in my life, I went right back to barely even thinking about God. I would go about my days, months, and sometimes, even years without really even acknowledging God at all in my life. I believed in God and I even loved God at some level, but He wasn't a big part of my life. Again, something would happen in my life, another problem, another heartache, another crisis. And what did I do? I ran to God! What does this have to do with discarded empty bottles? You will find the conclusion of this little writing nestled within the pages of this book. While out for my morning walk the other day, I was talking to God about comprehending His love for me in my heart and not just my head. I know when I reveal my prayer to you I will expose my weaknesses in faith, but here it is, my prayer that morning. "Lord, I need you to help me grasp your love for me. I need to know who you are to me and who I am in you. I need you to manifest yourself to me. I am fighting this fight of faith, but sometimes, I just want to feel your presence in such a way it would be as if my heart swells with your love, to recognize every day of my life." I walk on, the fog is so thick, and I look ahead and can barely see anything. I glance back, the same thing. I hear God speak. What did He say? Find out in this book, He still speaks in parables and revelations.

Synopsis He Still Speaks in Parables and Revelation by : Terri Beavers

Does God still speak to His children? I know that God still speaks to His children. It just takes listening and being aware of our surroundings, to recognize the little things that seem to tug at our hearts. I decided that I wanted to share the lessons that I received from God through some very unusual items and from meditating on God's Word. I wanted others to know that God does speak to them. The parables, as I like to call them, came to me through random items, at random time, and in random places. Lessons came through everyday life, whether I was walking, doing housework, playing, or just relaxing. Some lessons came in the morning, some at midday, and some at night. God is always talking. Take a little time each day to spend special time with God. Cast your cares on Him. Make your petitions known to Him. Once you have poured your whole heart out, just listen. Enjoy the time with Him, knowing He is with you. It doesn't take intelligence. It doesn't take being perfect, doing everything right. Sometimes we can try too hard to hear God, but when we just walk with Him, just enjoy His presence, we then start to hear His voice. All you have to do is take the time with Him. So grab yourself a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy the parables of today.

Synopsis Reversing Hermon by : Michael S. Heiser

Reversing Hermon is a groundbreaking work. It unveils what most in the modern Church have never heard regarding how the story of the sin of the Watchers in 1 Enoch 6-16 helped frame the mission of Jesus, the messiah. Jews of the first century expected the messiah to reverse the impact of the Watchers' transgression. For Jews of Jesus' day, the Watchers were part of the explanation for why the world was so profoundly depraved. The messiah would not just revoke the claim of Satan on human souls and estrangement from God, solving the predicament of the Fall. He would also not only bring the nations back into relationship with the true God by defeating the principalities and powers that governed them. Jews also believed that the messiah would rescue humanity from self-destruction, the catalyst for which was the sin of the Watchers and the influence of what they had taught humankind. The role of Enoch's retelling of Genesis 6:1-4 in how New Testament writers wrote of Jesus and the cross has been largely lost to a modern audience. Reversing Hermon rectifies that situation. Topics include:* How the ancient Mesopotamian story of the apkallu aligns with Gen 6:1-4, was preserved in 1 Enoch, and sets the stage for the theme of reversing the evil of the Watchers* How the theme of reversing the transgression of the Watchers colors the gospel accounts of the birth of Jesus, his genealogy, and his ministry.* How the writings of Peter and Paul allude to the sin of the Watchers and present Jesus as overturning the disastrous effects of their sins against humanity.* How the descriptions of the antichrist, the end-times Day of the Lord, and the final judgment connect to Genesis 6 and the nephilim.Though every topic addressed in Reversing Hermon can be found in scholarly academic literature, Reversing Hermon is the first book to gather this information and make it accessible to Bible students everywhere.

Synopsis When God Speaks in Parables (Volume 2) by : Dami I. Olu

A rich fool. A wayward son. A good but despised hero. A dubious but impressive manager. A persistent widow who would not be denied. What do all these characters have in common? Jesus! Jesus wove His narratives around these wildly different characters to teach us about the kingdom of God. In a world filled with so many voices struggling for attention and supremacy, the voice of Jesus echoes through the ages in the timeless parables He shared with us some 2000 years ago. Jesus Christ skillfully used storytelling as a powerful vehicle for delivering eternal and timeless truths about life, eternity, faith, religion, forgiveness, pride, greed, and many pertinent subjects. The question is: Why and how are these parables relevant to us today? This series answers the question. It promises to be an exciting and life-transforming read. Come along! This volume digs deep to reveal the hidden gems in the following powerful parables told by Jesus Christ: the Workers in the Vineyard, the Wineskins and the Garments, the Talents or Minas, the Wicked Tenants, the Ten Virgins, the Unfruitful Fig Tree, the Two Sons, the Tax Collector and the Pharisee, the Persistent Widow, and the Importunate Friend. The parables centre on the subjects of stewardship, humility, and prayer.

Synopsis When the Man Comes Around: A Commentary on the Book of Revelation by : Douglas Wilson

"Though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators." ~ G.K. Chesterton The book of Revelation was written to do just that: reveal. But most commentaries nowadays either engage in bizarre speculations about the future, or they keep an embarrassed distance from all the apocalyptic events that the apostle John says will “shortly take place.” In this commentary, Douglas Wilson provides a passage-by-passage walkthrough of the entire book, showing how John’s most notorious prophecies concern the Fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Explaining symbols and characters as he goes, Wilson shows from the text that not only is this book not an elaborate code, but that Revelation is not even ultimately concerned with the end of the world as we know it. Revelation is about the triumph of the Church, which always happens when the Man comes around.

Synopsis He Spoke in Parables by : Gordon J. Keddie

As long as the world lasts, the parables will call people to faith in Christ. Their very simplicity shines brightly with the gracious invitation to repent, to believe, and to be reconciled to God, through the same Jesus who first uttered them so long ago. In this contemporary study, Gordon Keddie seeks to retain the essential simplicity of the parables by the lightest touch of exposition, allowing them to live and move and touch our being with a vibrant immediacy and unmistakable clarity.

Synopsis The Unseen Eye: Volume 1 by : Minister JoAnn Walker

Come with me as God takes me on a journey. Watch what God reveals through the Dreams, Visions and Out of Body Experiences of mine personally, as well as that of others who have shared with me theirs. Let me tell you about some of the accounts that affected me and sometimes others. This book will show you How to be a True, Living Epistle of God through awareness of your own Dreams and Visions. It will teach you how to STOP where you are in life to hear the voice of the Lord God and hearken unto it. Unfortunately, we are presently living in the mist of a "Microwave Society" that is too busy for God. Nevertheless, God wants to speak and does so every single day. Yet most often than not, we are too busy to notice when He is speaking because we are caught up in our own way of living life. We simply neglect to make an effort to STOP and pay attention to the signs and wonders of GOD afforded us. As a result, we miss out on the very thing that we have need of or may be in prayer about. I tell you this day, God has already spoken through a Dream, Vision or His Word. We merely have not noticed it yet! This book shows you How to Acknowledge, Pay Attention and Respond Accordingly when God is speaking. Believe me when I tell you, He is speaking! Let me, through this book, show you how. A MUST READ for everyone who desires to learn more about How the Word of GOD affirms the Spiritual Application for the Natural Situations encountered in Dreams and Visions.

Synopsis Fire of Mercy, Heart of the Word, Vol 2 by : Erasmo Leiva-Merikakis

To the unstudied eye, St. Matthew's gospel can seem a terse narrative, almost a historical document and not the tremendously spiritual (and doctrinal) storehouse that it is. In his third volume of meditations on Matthew (chapters 19-25), Erasmo Leiva continues to show Matthew's prose to be not terse so much as economical--astoundingly so given its depth. The lay reader can derive great profit from reading this. Each short meditation comments on a verse or two, pointing to some facet of the text not immediately apparent, but rich with meaning. Leiva's work is scholarly but eminently approachable by the lay reader. The tone is very much of "taste and see how good the Lord is" and an invitation of "friend, come up higher!." The goal of the book is to help the reader experience the heat of the divine heart and the light of the divine Word. Leiva comments on the Greek text, demonstrating nuances in the text that defy translation. He uses numerous quotes from the Fathers and the Liturgy of the Church to demonstrate the way the Tradition has lived and read the Word of God. His theological reflection vivifies doctrine by seeking its roots in the words and actions of Jesus.
