Alonzo Allen was a Civil War veteran and Croydon, New Hampshire town clerk from 1866-1883. It was Allen's intent to compile a complete genealogical history of the families of Croydon. He was unable to bring his idea to completion, and it was not until 1920, when Dana Gross filled the town clerk position and served as such until 1965, that this endeavor was once again taken up. Gross wrote many letters in an attempt to learn more about the histories of the families of Croydon, and he also left behind a substantial collection of information. Dana Gross also typed up Alonzo Allen's earlier notes. This photocopy of Dana Gross's typed manuscript of a portion of Alonzo Allen's history features the Hall family of Croydon, NH, and was made available by Richard H. Tracy, who discovered a Hall ancestor from Croydon while doing his own family research.

Account book by Edward Hall from a general store in Croydon, N.H., assumed to be the same store founded by his father. Organized chronologically, the book lists the names of buyers, prices paid and items bought from the store.
