Spin physics is one of the most important and active areas of theoretical/experimental nuclear physics. In nuclear reactions, the observations of spin polarizations give important clues to the nuclear structures and reaction mechanism. For high energy nuclear physics, the polarized quark-parton distributions of the nucleon/nucleus are studied intensively. In the study of baryon structures and nuclear astrophysics, spin is an important observable through hadron reactions.The focus of these proceedings is on the spin-dependent phenomena in nuclear and hadronic reactions and related topics in nuclear and hadron physics. An aid for reseaching non-western cultures, the Bibliographic Guide to East Asian Studies covers Japan, China, North and South Korea, Honk Kong, and Taiwan, with approximately 3,500 listings from LC MARC tapes and the Oriental Division of The New York Public Library. It includes publications about East Asia; materials published in any of the relevant countries; and publications in the Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages. Listings are transcribed into Anglicised characters. Each entry provides complete bibliographic information, along with the NYPL and/or LC call numbers.

The purpose of the School and Workshop was to study recent topics in QCD and hadron physics from various points of view. The subjects included perturbative and nonperturbative aspects of QCD, chiral effective theory in hadron physics and high temperature and density nuclear matter physics. Another purpose was to enhance communications and collaborations among researchers in the Asia and Oceania region.
