" "This Town's Gone Bad--We'll Build a New One!" With one bold stroke, Slade cut to the heart of the problem. The cowtown of Maley was rotten to the core. Cranton Ames seemed to own even the law. While the sheriff refused to act, killers stalked the streets and terrorized the people. Slade drove to build a new boom town, fast--and in a matter of weeks Bang Town was a reality. But only Slade knew it was to be a death trap for the sinister gunman who dealt murder from the bottom of the deck . . . "--

Synopsis Chiraq - Gang-Bang City by : Polako

Chiraq has all your favorite obsessions: SEX, MONEY, MURDER, GANG-BANGING, and BETRAYAL. After being released from a decade-long stint in prison for a gang-related murder, Thomas Suarez is hoping to have another go-round at a life unknown. Besides having become very articulate while in prison, he developed a presence of mind and an ambition to succeed. Thomas also resolves to improve relations with his younger brother ‘DK’, who is quickly following in his prior footsteps, and educate him about the street gangs’ dangers. Things get complicated when Thomas learns of his girl Toya's secrets, his little sister Good Girl's underlying love for her boyfriend, and just how heavily involved DK is in the gang life. As bodies start to drop and hit close to home, a war escalates between two rival factions, sparing none in its path. Surrounded by the lust, love, treachery, greed, and murder of the streets, will it transform Thomas into the being he does not want to become? Can Thomas's fortitude withstand the diabolical streets that many fall victim to, or will his own prophecy be fulfilled? The answer lies in Chiraq’s Gang-Bang City Volume 1: "Drill Season"

Synopsis All the Little Guns Went Bang Bang Bang by : Neil Mackay

A blackly comic tale of two 11-year-old psychopaths who go on a murderous rampage in their small Northern Irish town Pearse Furlong and May-Belle Mulholland are two normal 11-year-olds meeting one summer in small town Antrim, Northern Ireland, in the early 1980s. They have little in common except a shared experience of violent, abusive parents. They form an unlikely alliance, and as their games and shared fantasies spin out of control, their friendship becomes something much darker, with theft, arson, sickening brutality, and eventually murder all lying ahead. A veteran of 20 years of reporting on children who kill, as well as many of the biggest stories during The Troubles in Northern Ireland, award-winning journalist Neil Mackay has created a shocking, pitch black debut novel. Through blackly comic and often visceral prose, he not only demonstrates his deep understanding for his subject but also an extraordinary empathy for children damaged by society’s neglect. In Pearce and May-Belle he has created an unforgettable folie deux and a coruscating satire on the brutality that many prefer to ignore.

Synopsis Views from the Streets by : Roberto Aspholm

Chicago has long served as a symbol of urban pathology in the public imagination. The city’s staggering levels of violence and entrenched gang culture occupy a central place in the national discourse, yet remain poorly understood and are often stereotyped. Views from the Streets explains the dramatic transformation of black street gangs on Chicago’s South Side during the early twenty-first century, shedding new light on why gang violence persists and what might be done to address it. Drawing on years of community work and in-depth interviews with gang members, Roberto R. Aspholm describes in vivid detail the internal rebellions that shattered the city’s infamous corporate-style African American street gangs. He explores how, in the wake of these uprisings, young gang members have radically refashioned gang culture and organization on Chicago’s South Side, rejecting traditional hierarchies and ideologies and instead embracing a fierce ethos of personal autonomy that has made contemporary gang violence increasingly spontaneous and unregulated. In calling attention to the historical context of these issues and to the elements of resistance embedded in Chicago’s contemporary gang culture, Aspholm challenges conventional views of gang members as inherently pathological. He critically analyzes highly touted “universal” violence prevention strategies, depicting street-level realities to illuminate why they have ultimately failed to reduce levels of bloodshed. An unprecedented analysis of the nature and meaning of gang violence, Views from the Streets proposes an alternative framework for addressing the seemingly intractable issues of inequality, despair, and violence in Chicago.
