Fay shows how to confidently meet, explore, and build relationships with key plant allies to enjoy a more balanced connection with yourself and your environment. Sharing her passion for the plant world, she provides a practical guide to rekindling your connection with nature, opening up to plant consciousness as a way to enrich your path and weave the enchantment of nature back into your own life. She includes more than 40 simple, practical exercises and meditations to guide you on a heart-centered journey of transformation and commune with the environment, the seasons, the cycles of the moon, and the Earth Heart. The author offers practical advice on how to initiate a conversation with plants and meet a plant ally with wisdom teachings specific to you and your path. Whether you explore your back garden, office plants, or morning cup of tea, Fay reveals how to introduce the magic of plants into your daily routine and appreciate the important role plants play. Synopsis Yin Yang Balance for Menopause by : Gary Wagman

A practical guide to using your Korean Sasang body type to optimize your health during menopause • Explores how each of the four Sasang body types has its own unique menopausal symptoms and Yin-Yang energy balance, explaining why hot flashes occur when they do, why insomnia is suddenly an issue, or why you feel depressed • Provides self-tests to determine your Sasang body type and explains how the natural remedies and diets that work for one type might not work for another • Includes Sasang herbal remedies for common challenges related to menopause, including hot flashes, depression, mood swings, brain fog, and loss of libido The ancient Korean art of Sasang medicine explains how each of us is born with a specific body type that establishes our physical and emotional strengths and weaknesses. These traits have a direct influence on how we interact with others and react to stress and life’s transitions. Discovering your type will enable you to understand why you are prone to certain symptoms and not others, choose the most compatible remedies and treatments, and make the best choices regarding your health and well-being. Applying the wisdom of Sasang medicine to the major life transition of menopause, Dr. Gary Wagman explores how each of the four Sasang body types has its own unique menopausal challenges, as well as opportunities, and how the natural remedies and diets that work for one type might not work for another. Providing guidelines and tests to determine your type, he details each type’s emotional tendencies, physical strengths and weaknesses, and their balance of Yin and Yang energy within the organ systems, explaining why hot flashes occur when they do, why insomnia is suddenly an issue, or why you feel depressed. Revealing the impact our emotions have on our physiological health, he describes how different emotions, such as anger and sadness, correlate with a particular type’s inborn energetic patterns. Presenting natural remedies, exercises, supplements, and diet and food recommendations for each Yin-Yang body type, Dr. Wagman also includes body-type-specific Sasang herbal remedies for the most common challenges related to menopause, including hot flashes, osteoporosis, depression, mood swings, hormone balance, urinary health, fibroids, frozen shoulder, brain fog, and loss of libido. Offering specific ways to take charge of your own emotional, physical, and sexual health, this practical guide provides a compass to help you smoothly navigate the sometimes turbulent waters of menopause and harness the spiritual and emotional strengths of this life transition.

Synopsis STILL HOT! by : Kaye Adams

Every menopause has its own story. It's time we told them . . . The menopause. What even is it? One big theme unites Still Hot!'s 42 stories - that, somehow, the world doesn't ready us for this. The menopause - let alone the perimenopause - simply isn't talked about; instead, it's reduced to a comic hot flush. More and more of us are proudly stepping free of the menopausal closet, but the Big M is still a conversation whispered below the radar. No one tells you it will be like this. No one prepares you for it. That silence is lifting, slowly. So let's be bold, let's overshare. Let's find solidarity among Still Hot!'s myriad voices - wise, rebellious, measured, fierce, upfront - telling how the menopause is not just one story, but many. Telling, in fact, that this is not the menopause, it is YOUR menopause. In fact, it can be a very empowering time." JULIE GRAHAM "We mustn't be scared of the menopause . . . I always say, Don't suffer in silence. Get help. There is help out there. There is understanding." LORRAINE KELLY "Many women, when they go through menopause, happen to be going through things in their life anyway. You wonder, does one galvanise the other?" Synopsis Assessing the Medical Risks of Human Oocyte Donation for Stem Cell Research by : National Research Council

It is widely understood that stem cell treatments have the potential to revolutionize medicine. Because of this potential, in 2004 California voters approved Proposition 71 to set up a 10-year, $3 billion program to fund research on stem cells. Under the direction of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, this program will pay to build facilities for stem cell research and will fund doctors and scientists to carry out research with the ultimate goal of helping to develop therapies based on stem cells. For this research to move forward, however, will require a steady supply of stem cells, particularly human embryonic stem cells. Those stem cells are collected from developing human embryos created from eggs-or oocytes-harvested from the ovaries of female donors. Thus much of the promise of stem cells depends on women choosing to donate oocytes to the research effort. The oocyte donation process is not without risk, however. Donors are given doses of hormones to trigger the production of more eggs than would normally be produced, and this hormone treatment can have various side effects. Once the eggs have matured in the ovary, they must be retrieved via a surgical procedure that is typically performed under anesthesia, and both the surgery and the anesthesia carry their own risks. Furthermore, given the very personal nature of egg donation, the experience may carry psychological risks for some women as well. With this in mind, in 2006 the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine contracted with the National Academies to organize a workshop that would bring together experts from various areas to speak about the potential risks of oocyte donation and to summarize what is known and what needs to be known about this topic. The Committee on Assessing the Medical Risks of Human Oocyte Donation for Stem Cell Research was formed to plan the workshop, which was held in San Francisco on September 28, 2006. This report is a summary and synthesis of that workshop.

Synopsis In My Own Words: Women's Experience of Hysterectomy by : Linda Parkinson-Hardman

Perhaps you've had or are thinking about having a hysterectomy. Maybe you know someone who is having a hysterectomy. In either situation the most common reaction is to feel isolated and fearful about what you don't know. The Hysterectomy Association believes having enough good quality, impartial information is the key to navigating this change successfully, we also know that other people's stories are incredibly powerful too. This book of real-life stories has been drawn together from many that have been shared with us over the years. They show that whilst every experience of hysterectomy is unique there are common threads and themes running through them. Other people's stories help women feel less isolated. They show that they aren't going mad, missing the point or stupid. They show their concerns are genuine and that the only way to deal with them is to voice them. They are a mixed bag telling of loss, happiness, joy and pain and they talk of a need to share with others before moving on.
