Synopsis Fluid Soloing - Book 1 by : Tim Quinn

A modern arpeggio handbook and comprehensive training manual for developing fast, flowing arpeggio runs that connect the entire fretboard. Emphasis is on developing fluid, non-shifting arpeggio patterns (across the neck) using hammer-ons and pull-offs for speed and fluidity; and also on developing smooth position-shifting arpeggios (along the length of the neck) using slides. These two types of motion are then connected and combined in an extensive collection of soloing etudes for full assimilation. The result is a complete system of arpeggio pathways that connects every part of the fretboard and facilitates maximum speed, fluidity, and range. Complete whole-neck connections are presented for major 7th, dominant 7th, minor 7th, minor 6th, half-diminished, diminished 7th, major triadic and minor triadic arpeggios. This book is for all guitarists who are serious about improving their ability to solo over chord progressions using arpeggios, in any style of music; including rock, jazz, fusion, blues, country or pop. Having the ability to instantly outline any chord in a song with a fluid arpeggio run (no matter where your hand is on the neck) is immensely valuable for every guitarist. This book methodically teaches you the skills that make this possible. Loaded with melodic arpeggio passages that can be applied to your music immediately, this is perhaps the most practical and powerful arpeggio book ever written. CD included. Standard notation and Tablature.

Synopsis Extreme Rock Guitar Soloing by : Pablo Pescatore

In this expansive book, versatile Argentine guitarist and teacher Pablo Pescatore provides a masterclass in the theory behind creative rock soloing. From the ground up, he presents the theoretical building blocks of major, minor, pentatonic, and modal scales followed by triads and seventh chords in all keys, not just the guitar-friendly ones. Then he proceeds to analyze rhythm in all common and uncommon time signatures before delving into 20 exotic scales. Written in standard notation and tablature, the truly unique aspect of this book is the author’s insistence on improvising with an acute awareness of rhythmic, melodic, harmonic, and dynamic values—not just playing fast and loud in predictable patterns. Demonstrating his ideas in 120 audio examples and a final knock-out blues progression, Pablo encourages readers to write, sing and otherwise incorporate their own variations into their music, dramatically changing the audio landscape of rock guitar soloing. Includes access to online audio.

Synopsis Nail 48 by : Phil Maywald

Lt. Colonel Phillip Maywald, USAF (Ret.), graduated from The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in the Class of 1963. The class of 63 was the first full size class, the first to go all four years at the permanent USAFA site in Colorado Springs, and the only class that had President Kennedy as its graduation speaker. Its future was entwined with the Viet Nam War even though that was not known until after its graduation. Eighteen of the class were killed in action, two were long term POWs and others were killed in training. The majority served in SEA. Phil Maywald considers himself an average member of the Class. He was average as a cadet and had an average career. While many, if not all of his classmates and other USAFA graduates, have had opportunities to to do extraordinary things and responded in ways that bring honor to themselves and the USAF there are only sixteen who are recognized in the USAFA Plaza of Heroes. Phil is one of those. (See Photos) He was awarded the Air Force Cross for combat actions as a forward air controller during the Viet Nam war, the highest award the Air Force can give, the only higher award being the Congressional Medal of Honor. This is the account of the combat actions and the UFAFA background that shaped him and led to that award. It was written to honor the class of 63.

Synopsis Beyond Elite Law by : Samuel Estreicher

Are Americans making under $50,000 a year compelled to navigate the legal system on their own, or do they simply give up because they cannot afford lawyers? We know anecdotally that Americans of median or lower income generally do without legal representation or resort to a sector of the legal profession that - because of the sheer volume of claims, inadequate training, and other causes - provides deficient representation and advice. This book poses the question: can we - at the current level of resources, both public and private - better address the legal needs of all Americans? Leading judges, researchers, and activists discuss the role of technology, pro bono services, bar association resources, affordable solo and small firm fees, public service internships, and law student and nonlawyer representation.
