He was the son of William Carruth and Emma Wilde. Eliza was born 31 December 1883 in Coalville, Utah. She was the daughter of William Henry Branch and Hephzibah C. Hirst. John Carruth married Eliza Branch 27 October 1909 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Ogden, Utah and were the parents of four sons and four daughters. Descendants lived primarily in Utah.
