Synopsis From Republic to Restoration by : Janet Clare

Republic to restoration cuts across artificial divides between periods and disciplines, often imposed for reasons of convenience rather than reality. Challenging the traditional period divide of 1660, essays in this volume explore continuities with the decades of civil war and the Republic, shedding new light on religious, political and cultural conditions before and after the restoration of church and king. Transdisciplinary in conception, it includes essays on political theory, poetry, pamphlets, drama, opera, art, scientific experiment and the Book of Common Prayer. Essays in the volume variously show how unresolved issues at national and local level, including residual republicanism and religious dissent, were evident in many areas of Restoration life, and were recorded in memoirs, diaries, plays, historical writing, pamphlets and poems. An active promotion of forgetting, and the erasing of memories of the Republic and the reconstruction of the old order did not mend the political, religious and cultural divisions that had opened up during the Civil War. In examining such diverse genres as women’s religious and prophetic writings, the publications of the Royal Society, the poetry and prose of Marvell and Milton, plays and opera, court portraiture, contemporary histories of the civil wars, and political cartoons, the volume substantiates its central claim that the Restoration was conditioned by continuity and adaptation of linguistic and artistic discourses. Republic to restoration will be of significant interest to academic researchers in a wide range of related fields, and especially students and scholars of seventeenth-century literature and history.

Synopsis Restoring Our Republic by : Ned Ryun

In Restoring Our Republic, Ned Ryun examines the genesis for the ideas which inspired our constitutional republic, from the ancient Hebrews, Greeks and Romans to the English and their common law. Ryun also discusses the machinery of the republic built by the Founders meant to protect the rights of the American people and how that machinery has been dismantled by Progressives. "Restoring Our Republic is powerful love letter to the United States of America. Detailed and sweeping, yet digestible and engrossing, this is the book America needs right now, a potent antidote to the poisonous lies promulgated by today's elite, those unworthy heirs of the exponential greater men of the founding. Ned Ryun gives us back our history, and in doing so reveals the truth about who we are asAmericans."-- Kurt Schlichter, Senior Columnist at Townhall.com"Ned Ryun nails it with Restoring Our Republic. Our Founder Fathers weren't anarchic revolutionaries. They fought instead to preserve our Judeo-Christian Civilization. That civilization, the greatest ever, is under lethal assault once more from those who detest PresidentTrump's MAGA agenda. Read Restoring Our Republic to refuel your commitment and help win back our country."-- Sebastian Gorka Ph.D. Former Strategist toPresident Donald Trump, Host of America First"The success of our republic isn't by chance: it is due to disciplined, deliberate choices. The growth of socialism now threatens the freedom this success provides. How will Americans now choose? Ned Ryun's Restoring Our Republic examines this and celebrates the DNA of American liberty."-- Dana Loesch, nationally syndicated radio host and best-selling author"Restoring Our Republic is both a love letter and a call to arms. As the republic of liberty created by the settlers of this country is slowly replaced with a new regime, Ryun reminds us of what we had and how we can get it back. This is not simply a diagnostic, much less a eulogy, it is a plan for the reinvigoration of our nation, for the unity of her people, and for the restoration of the Republic."-- Chris Buskirk, Publisher and Editor of American Greatness"Ned Ryun incisively details the fundamental principles and history of freedom and liberty that made America great, as well as the disastrous consequences of throwing overboard the constitutional ideals of theFounding Fathers. Restoring Our Republic makes clear that the only way to make America great again is to keep America free."-- Sean Davis, co-founder of The Federalist"Ned Ryun's Restoring Our Republic is a great analysis of what we've fought for, where we've been, and where we're going."-- Dan Bongino, The Dan Bongino Show"Restoring Our Republic is a historical road map of how the United States of America came to be the greatest force for good the world has ever known. Ned Ryun explains the complex underpinnings of the American experiment and pulls no punches in warning of the fragility of American exceptionalism. Understanding that America's constitutional and legal foundation was laid thousands, not hundreds of years ago, Ned calls on Americans to appreciate the gift they've been given, while warning of the dangers ahead if they stray from the Founders' course. A celebration of western civilization and values,Restoring Our Republic reminds us that a strong America means a return to our core tenets. This book is sure to become the must read manifesto of Constitutional conservatives."-- John Cardillo, Host of America Talks Live

Synopsis Restoration by : Tim Harris

The late seventeenth century was a period of extraordinary turbulence and political violence in Britain, the like of which has never been seen since. Beginning with the Restoration of the monarchy after the Civil War, this book traces the fate of the monarchy from Charles II's triumphant accession in 1660 to the growing discontent of the 1680s. Harris looks beyond the popular image of Restoration England revelling in its freedom from the austerity of Puritan rule under a merry monarch and reconstructs the human tragedy of Restoration politics where people were brutalised, hounded and exploited by a regime that was desperately insecure after two decade of civil war and republican rule.

Synopsis American Restoration by : Timothy S. Goeglein

THIS IS NO TIME TO RUN AND HIDE America seems to be crumbling from within. Having abandoned the Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of its culture, our nation, in the eyes of many, is going the way of the great civilizations of the past. If our 250-year experiment in ordered liberty has really run its course, is it time to recognize the inevitable, pack up our families, and head for the hills, hunkering down through the dark days to come? Or is there hope for an American restoration? Tim Goeglein and Craig Osten, battle-hardened veterans of the culture wars, know as well as anyone that the decadence is undeniable. But they make the case that an American restoration is not only possible, but probable—if we act now. The key is for Christians to engage with the culture, not flee from it, to be the salt and light that will renew it from within. That engagement must take place especially at the local level, where real spiritual and cultural transformation occurs. If America returns to its spiritual foundations, the tumultuous times we live in will be nothing more than a bumpy detour in our nation’s history. This book is a roadmap for the way back. In this clear-eyed but hopeful guide to restoration, Goeglein and Osten explain how patriotic Americans, with God’s help, can renew fifteen critical components of our culture. Government will not provide the solutions we desperately need. The solutions lie in our churches, our communities, and our homes. The light for our path is faith. As that light pierces the darkness, America will experience a reawakening, regeneration, and renewal.

Synopsis River Republic by : Daniel McCool

Daniel McCool chronicles the surging grassroots movement to bring America's rivers back to life and ensure they remain pristine for future generations. This book confirms the surprising news that America's rivers are indeed returning to a healthier, free-flowing condition. Through passion and dedication, ordinary people are reclaiming the American landscape, forming a nation-wide "river republic" of concerned citizens from all backgrounds and sectors of society. McCool profiles the individuals he calls "instigators," who initiated the fight for these waterways and have succeeded in the near-impossible task of challenging and changing the status quo. He ties the history, culture, and fate of America to its rivers and presents their restoration as a microcosm mirroring American beliefs, livelihoods, and an increasing awareness of our shared environmental fate.

Synopsis Augustan Rome 44 BC to AD 14 by : J. S. Richardson

Centring on the reign of the emperor Augustus, volume four is pivotal to the series, tracing of the changing shape of the entity that was ancient Rome through its political, cultural and economic history. Within this period the Roman world was reconfigured. On a political and constitutional level the patterns of the republic, which sustained an oligarchic regime and a popularist structure, were transformed into a monarchical dictatorship in which the earlier elements continued to function. On an imperial level, the growth in Roman power reached what was virtually its apogee. In literature and the visual arts, new forms of expression, based on those of the previous generations but closely linked to the new regime, showed great achievements. In society and the economy, the effectiveness and dominance of Rome as the centre of world power became increasingly obvious.
