Synopsis Awesome Blossom (A Flower Power Book #4) by : Lauren Myracle
DIVThe Flower Power books follow the funny fifth-grade adventures of four girls with little in common but their flower names who, nevertheless, blossom into the greatest of friends. Katie-Rose, Milla, Yasaman, and Violet have confronted their share of challenges in fifth grade: a dead hamster, turtle theft, trapeze lessons, and pesky boys, just to name a few. Nothing can stop these four fabulous friends. Well, nothing except for their archnemesis, the evil Modessa (a.k.a. “Medusa†?). Somehow, Modessa has recruited one of the sweetest girls in the class to be her new sidekick. The flower friends are determined to save Elena, even if it means braving Modessa’s wrath. But it will also mean getting Katie-Rose to focus—she’s a bit too busy NOT flirting with cute-but-annoying Preston. And then there’s Yasaman’s little sister’s birthday “bubblegum†? party, which the four friends promised to organize . . . if it’s possible to call anything involving 30 kindergartners organized. Luckily, Violet is back to herself and ready to lead the Flowers to their most glorious triumph. With mean girls, romance, and tons of fifth-grade drama, this critically acclaimed friendship series shows that author Lauren Myracle “has her finger firmly on the pulse of tween girldom.†? (Booklist) UPraise for Awesome /uUBlossom/u "The girls' giggle-worthy antics and enough dangling plot threads will keep readers wanting more." --Kirkus Reviews "Shining example of themes and language (parts of the story are told in IMs, e-mails, and chat messages) that will cut straight to the heart of tween girls." --Booklist /div

Synopsis Flower Power: The Accidental Discovery by a Vindictive Puny Sailor by : MIKE ESPARZA
Captain Horacio cannot sleep; he is plagued by mild insomnia brought about by the stress of being at sea for far too long. He slaps his coarse, hairy cheek as he tries and once again fails to kill the annoying fly that prevents him from getting his much-needed rest. After all, it was around six in the morning when the thunderous rain ceased, and the ship’s crew on the decrepit sailing vessel was able to lay down and rest. The last twenty-four hours have been gruesome for the sailors as they have been working nonstop to keep the heavy rain from sinking the ship. Understandably, this early morning, Captain Horacio feels lunatic, angry, and anxious after spending the last twenty-four hours standing at the boat’s helm, battling against the immense waves that crashed on the ship’s bow. He contemplates using his double-barrel pistol to kill the insect, but his gun’s powder is wet and useless in such conditions. Nevertheless, not giving up on finding sleep and rest for his old body, he tosses from side to side, trying to find a comfortable position on a pile of wet straw next to a stack of half-empty wine barrels. The ship’s crew worked heroically through the night and kept the torrential rains from sinking the vessel as large waves tossed the boat, making its wooden frame generate rhythmically screeching sounds all night long. It made the ship sound like a child who refused to stop crying until the first sun’s rays began to penetrate the dark clouds. Some of the crew, who have newborns of their own, were reminded of how fortunate they are not to be home to deal with their children’s cries in the late-night hours, making them appreciate the freedom afforded by being away from their responsibilities. After being at sea for seven months, some aboard have started to feel fatigued, and the onset symptoms of depression have begun to overshadow them. Others are homesick, making their expedition appear eternal, as they consider the many days that have passed since they first set sail from Portugal. In the beginning, everyone regarded themselves as fortunate to partake in the commission granted by a wealthy aristocrat to explore the vast Atlantic Ocean— and, if luck would have it, find new land and untold riches. However, the current feeling on board is that this voyage is nothing short of a curse. Nevertheless, the voyage, by happenstance, will eventually lead them to a mountainous island, and destiny will reward them with great wealth.

Synopsis Flower Power by : Barbara Barrett
Kat Faulkner is finally about to relaunch her singing career at Lombardi’s Supper Club. Even mystery man Roger Flower, the new owner of the restaurant, has brought an entourage to her packed opening night. But her triumphant return to the stage is scuttled when the much-hated Flower drops dead at his table. Her grumpy would-be boyfriend, Sheriff Rick Formero, has lectured her and her mah jongg friends every time they’ve delved into a homicide investigation. But with most of Serendipity Springs’ deputies under suspicion just for being in the same room as the victim, Rick finds himself in the unenviable position of asking Kat to help him expose a murderer. While Kat’s pals Sydney, Marianne and Micki conduct a sneaky parallel investigation, Rick is forced to rely on Kat’s skills of observation as they sort through dozens of witnesses. With his hands in so many pots, Flower attracted a lot of enemies, but it’s not easy to find a killer in the crowd. The tension threatens to wilt Kat and Rick’s budding relationship before it has a chance to blossom. Will their forced alliance bring them closer—or closer to death?
