Synopsis Flight Simulation Model Exchange by : National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa

The NASA Engineering and Safety Center Review Board sponsored an assessment of the draft Standard, Flight Dynamics Model Exchange Standard, BSR/ANSI-S-119-201x (S-119) that was conducted by simulation and guidance, navigation, and control engineers from several NASA Centers. The assessment team reviewed the conventions and formats spelled out in the draft Standard and the actual implementation of two example aerodynamic models (a subsonic F-16 and the HL-20 lifting body) encoded in the Extensible Markup Language grammar. During the implementation, the team kept records of lessons learned and provided feedback to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Modeling and Simulation Technical Committee representative. This document contains the results of the assessment. Murri, Daniel G. and Jackson, E. Bruce Langley Research Center NASA/TM-2011-217085/VOL1, NESC-RP-09-00598, L-20019, NF1676L-12593

Synopsis Flight Mechanics Modeling and Analysis by : Jitendra R. Raol

Flight Mechanics Modeling and Analysis comprehensively covers flight mechanics and flight dynamics using a systems approach. This book focuses on applied mathematics and control theory in its discussion of flight mechanics to build a strong foundation for solving design and control problems in the areas of flight simulation and flight data analysis. The second edition has been expanded to include two new chapters and coverage of aeroservoelastic topics and engineering mechanics, presenting more concepts of flight control and aircraft parameter estimation. This book is intended for senior undergraduate aerospace students taking Aircraft Mechanics, Flight Dynamics & Controls, and Flight Mechanics courses. It will also be of interest to research students and R&D project-scientists of the same disciplines. Including end-of-chapter exercises and illustrative examples with a MATLAB®-based approach, this book also includes a Solutions Manual and Figure Slides for adopting instructors. Features: • Covers flight mechanics, flight simulation, flight testing, flight control, and aeroservoelasticity. • Features artificial neural network- and fuzzy logic-based aspects in modeling and analysis of flight mechanics systems: aircraft parameter estimation and reconfiguration of control. • Focuses on a systems-based approach. • Includes two new chapters, numerical simulation examples with MATLAB®-based implementations, and end-of-chapter exercises. • Includes a Solutions Manual and Figure Slides for adopting instructors.

Synopsis Distributed Simulation by : Okan Topçu

This unique text/reference provides a comprehensive review of distributed simulation (DS) from the perspective of Model Driven Engineering (MDE), illustrating how MDE affects the overall lifecycle of the simulation development process. Numerous practical case studies are included to demonstrate the utility and applicability of the methodology, many of which are developed from tools available to download from the public domain. Topics and features: Provides a thorough introduction to the fundamental concepts, principles and processes of modeling and simulation, MDE and high-level architecture Describes a road map for building a DS system in accordance with the MDE perspective, and a technical framework for the development of conceptual models Presents a focus on federate (simulation environment) architectures, detailing a practical approach to the design of federations (i.e., simulation member design) Discusses the main activities related to scenario management in DS, and explores the process of MDE-based implementation, integration and testing Reviews approaches to simulation evolution and modernization, including architecture-driven modernization for simulation modernization Examines the potential synergies between the agent, DS, and MDE methodologies, suggesting avenues for future research at the intersection of these three fields Distributed Simulation – A Model Driven Engineering Approach is an important resource for all researchers and practitioners involved in modeling and simulation, and software engineering, who may be interested in adopting MDE principles when developing complex DS systems.

Synopsis Advanced Simulation in Biomedicine by : Dietmar P.F. Möller

This book presents a collection of invited contributions, each reflecting an area of biomedicine in which simulation techniques have been successfully applied. Thus, it provides a state-of-the-art survey of simulation techniques in a variety of biomedical applications. Chapter one presents the conceptual framework for advanced simulations such as parallel processing in biological systems. Chapter two focuses on structured biological modeling based on the bond graph method. This is followed by an up-to-date account of advanced simulation of a variety of sophisticated biomedical processes. The authors provide many insights into how computer simulation techniques and tools can be applied to research problems in biomedicine. The idea for this book arose out of the daily work by experts in their field and reflects developing areas. Therefore, I think the material is timely and hope that the work described will be an encouragement for others. It is the objective of this book to present advanced simulation techniques in biomedicine and outline current research, as well as to point out open problems, in this dynamic field. Finally, I wish to express my thanks to those colleagues who have made this book possible with their contributions.
