Synopsis Fiery Jordan by : Linzi Basset
My name is Jordan Sutton, a highly educated forty-two-year-old spinster. I have to tell you… I freaking hate that word but… it is what it is, no use busting my balls over it. Either way, it doesn’t matter. I can hold my own among any chick half my age… and I’ll have you know— I’ll do it wearing my fave stilettos! I’ve been a co-owner of The Red Reign PI Agency but as an ex-army ranger and an expert strategist in counter terrorism, here I am, stuck back in Iraq. Yeah, I allowed the FBI to suck me back in to catch one of the most notorious terrorists on their hit list. And wouldn’t you know it … I ended up caught and chained up by the very asshat I went to find in Iraq. But it’s no sweat, I don’t break and can crawl through mud and live fire with the best of them and yet, there’s this delusional Black Ops muscle head who believes I need him to save me. It’s time he faces reality. My name is Brock Carter. I’m a forty-six-year-old widower with my path littered with the conquests of sexy kittens. I must admit that there is one left— a black-haired tauntress with an unusual carnal flavor known yet untasted that has provoked my appetite and inflamed my libido. Anyway, I’m co-owner of a covert Black Ops group called, The Cobras. We’re on the trail of the most feared Mafia Boss the U.S. has ever encountered and it’s a case that requires all our attention. Now, because of the Red Reign kitties strong arming terrorists, our attention is divided… something we can’t afford. Not to mention that seductress I told you about… yeah, the little naiad had to go dune surfing in Iraq and got herself captured. It’s time to set her straight and convince her that a pretty kitty should be purring… preferably in my bed. I haven’t found the right words yet to beckon her, but when I do, I’ll be looking for that lightning left hook she’s got. Even so, it’s time she faces reality.

Synopsis Jordan by : Hal Marcovitz
A tiny country roughly the size of Indiana, Jordan has enjoyed a stable government throughout its 80-year history and has been a significant force in a tumultuous part of the world. Led by Hussein ibn Tallal for more than 40 years, the country built a strong economy, expanded personal freedoms, and assumed a key role in Middle Eastern affairs. Jordan is home to the ancient city of Petra, an archaeological site that remained unknown until 1812. Referred to in the Bible as Sela, Petra's structures were created by carving into the solid, rose-colored rocks. In 1985, it was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and in 2007, it was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. -- Publisher description.

Synopsis Duel of Fire by : Jordan Rivet
Dara Ruminor is a serious young duelist in the mountaintop kingdom of Vertigon, a land of dramatic cliffs and misty peaks where mysterious Fire magic runs through the stones like blood. The secluded kingdom has been peaceful for a hundred years. Swords are used for sport, and successful athletes live like kings as long as the crowds love them. Eighteen-year-old Dara needs to find a wealthy patron in order to duel professionally and avoid a lifetime working in her parents' Fire Lantern shop. Her efforts are disrupted when her coach asks her to train with Prince Siv, an infuriating-if handsome-young man who refuses to take the sport as seriously as she does. But the prince's life may be in danger, and soon Dara will discover that Vertigon isn't as peaceful as she thought. As threats emerge from the shadows, Dara will have to raise her sword to protect Siv-if he doesn't irritate her so much that she decides to run him through herself. From the author of the Seabound Chronicles comes a new fantasy series about sword fighting, cur-dragons, molten Fire magic, and one young woman's effort to prove herself.

The flame of love burns bright in the second book of Sharon M. Draper’s award-winning Hazelwood High trilogy. When Gerald was a child he was fascinated by fire. But fire is dangerous and powerful, and tragedy strikes. His substance-addicted mother is taken from him. Somehow Gerald manages to finds success as a member of the Hazelwood Tigers basketball team, and Angel develops her talents as a dancer, despite the trouble that still haunts them. And Gerald learns, painfully, that young friends can die and old enemies must be faced. In the end he must stand up to his stepfather alone in a blazing confrontation. In this second book of the Hazelwood High trilogy, Sharon M. Draper has woven characters and events from Tears of a Tiger in an unflinchingly realistic portrayal of poverty and child abuse. It is an inspiring story of a young man who rises above the tragic circumstances of his life by drawing on the love and strength of family and friends.

Synopsis Pyrotechnic Cities by : Liam Ross
This book explores the relationship between architecture, government and fire. It posits that, through the question of fire-safety standardisation, building design comes to be both a problem for, and a tool of, government. Through a close study of fire-safety standards it demonstrates the shaping effect that architecture and the city have on the way we think about governing. Opening with an investigation into the Grenfell Tower fire and the political actors who sought to enrol it in programmes of governmental reform before contextualising the research in current literature, the book takes four city studies, each beginning with a specific historic fire: The 1654 Great Fire of Meirecki, Edo; the 1877 town fire of Lagos; the 1911 Empire Palace Theatre fire, Edinburgh; and the 2001 World Trade Centre attack, New York. Each study identifies the governmental response to the fire, safety standards and codes designed in its wake and how these new processes spread and change. Drawing on the work of sociologists John Law and Anne Marie Mol and their concept of ‘Fire Space’, it describes the way that architectural design, through the medium of fire, is an instrument of political agency. Pyrotechnic Cities is a critical investigation into these political implications, written for academics, researchers and students in architectural history and theory, infrastructure studies and governance.
