Maximum Ride is used to living desperately on the run from evil forces sabotaging her quest to save the world--but nothing has ever come as close to destroying her as this horrifying prophetic message. Fang is Max's best friend, her soul mate, her partner in the leadership of her flock of winged children. A life without Fang is a life unimaginable. When a newly created winged boy, the magnificent Dylan, is introduced into the flock, their world is upended yet again. Raised in a lab like the others, Dylan exists for only one reason: he was designed to be Max's perfect other half. Thus unfolds a battle of perfection versus passion that terrifies, twists, and turns...and meanwhile, the apocalypse is coming.

Synopsis Burying the Mountain by : Shangyang Fang
In Shangyang Fang’s debut Burying the Mountain, longing and loss rush through a portal of difficult beauty. Absence is translated into fire ants and snow, a boy’s desire is transfigured into the indifference of mountains and rivers, and loneliness finds its place in the wounded openness of language. From the surface of a Song Dynasty ink-wash painting to a makeshift bedroom in Chengdu, these poems thread intimacy, eros, and grief. Evoking the music of ancient Chinese poetry, Fang alloys political erasure, exile, remembrance, and death into a single brushstroke on the silk scroll, where names are forgotten as paper boats on water.

Synopsis The Call of the Wild and White Fang by : Jack London
Presented together in one volume, these are two of the greatest and most popular animal stories ever written. Even to designate them as "animal stories" seems to undervalue them, because these tremendous works are so much more than mere children's tales, although they are admittedly still greatly loved by the young. Penned by Jack London at the beginning of the twentieth century, the first, The Call of the Wild, tells the story of Buck, a domestic dog who is kidnapped from his home in California and forced to pull sleds in the Arctic wastes. In the second, White Fang, a cross-breed that is three-quarters wolf and one quarter dog, endures considerable suffering in the Arctic before being tamed by a white American and taken to live in California. The two narratives are remarkable for the vividness of their descriptions and the success with which London imagines life from a nonhuman perspective.

Synopsis The Adventures of White Fang by : Toni Licastro
This is a story that came back to me and that I made up some fifty years ago when I was in high school. I won an award for my story about this animal that was part dog and part wolf. He was pure white and had the body of a husky. His five senses were his extra special features, and they were more acute than a blind man’s by almost ten times. He was also graceful and could sneak up on someone like a sniper. He was very, very quiet. His master was the royal Canadian mounted police officer Captain Steven Pole. He loved that animal and named it White Fang. He was part of the RCMP and was a K9 specialist. Both Steve and Fang went out on a lot of assignments as their arrest record was A+. There is only one case not solved, and that is the death of his father while on duty in the Northwest Territories. It was thought there were escaped convicts trying to cross from Canada to USA by way of the Rocky Mountains or the northern lights passage by posing as a mature couple on an adventure. They needed a guide who knew the pass well, and that was Steve’s dad, who drew the duty. Fang was very restless all day around Steve. Finally, Steve started to feel something was wrong. His dad was not answering any of his pages or his walkie-talkie. Steve and Fang decided to follow the trail Red gave him. It was not long at all before all three knew something was not right.
