Synopsis Nightshade Academy Episode 1: Awakened Vampire by : Kestra Pingree
Vampirism. An academy made for monsters. A shifter I can't avoid because he fires up my bloodlust. That's what my life has become. I'm used to being the weird girl. When I look at people, I see their auras instead of their faces. But I never thought a vampire would rip out of me when a mysterious man told me these simple words: "Your blood is mine." The timing was too perfect. Right after that, the headmaster of Nightshade Academy kidnapped me before I could hurt someone with my newly "awakened" vampire genes. Now she's making me attend her school until I've relearned how to be a civilized human being. Well, I want out. I just graduated high school, and I'm not doing college. Besides, my mom is probably worried sick about me. Probably. It gets worse when I meet Kian. He's a shifter and one of the most popular students at Nightshade Academy. He's the type of person I avoid, so I hate that I'm drawn to him. His smell is intoxicating. Being near him turns on my bloodlust, and that's when I realize how in trouble I really am. If I can't control this bloodlust, I'm going to kill someone. — Nightshade Academy is a young adult contemporary fantasy series. All episodes have been published; this series is complete.

Synopsis The Beatles and Humour by : Katie Kapurch
The Beatles are known for cheeky punchlines, but understanding their humor goes beyond laughing at John Lennon's memorable rattle your jewelry dig at the Royal Variety Performance in 1963. From the beginning, the Beatles' music was full of wordplay and winks, guided by comedic influences ranging from rhythm and blues, British radio, and the Liverpool pub scene. Gifted with timing and deadpan wit, the band habitually relied on irony, sarcasm, and nonsense. Early jokes revealed an aptitude for improvisation and self-awareness, techniques honed throughout the 1960s and into solo careers. Experts in the art of play, including musical experimentation, the Beatles' shared sense of humor is a key ingredient to their appeal during the 1960s-and to their endurance. The Beatles and Humour offers innovative takes on the serious art of Beatle fun, an instrument of social, political, and economic critique. Chapters also situate the band alongside British and non-British predecessors and collaborators, such as Billy Preston and Yoko Ono, uncovering diverse components and unexpected effects of the Beatles' output.

Synopsis Jimi Hendrix on track by : Emma Stott
The legendary Jimi Hendrix has had all kinds of superlatives bestowed on him since his incendiary debut in 1966, but Lou Reed’s pithy summation beats the lot: ‘...he was such a bitching guitar player’. Jimi Hendrix On Track explores each thrilling song and album, drawing out exactly what made Hendrix not only a great guitarist but also a vocalist, arranger, interpreter, producer and songwriter of genius. Hendrix’s revolutionary albums with The Experience and Band of Gypsys are discussed in detail, as are his posthumous releases from First Rays of the Rising Sun to Both Sides of the Sky. His early work as a session player for acts like The Isley Brothers, Little Richard and even Jayne Mansfield is considered, along with his later work as a guest star on albums by Stephen Stills, Robert Wyatt, and McGear and McGough, and not forgetting his blistering work as a producer for Eire Apparent. From psychedelic odysseys to progressive blues to proto-metal to funk-rock, Hendrix mastered them all. Jimi Hendrix On Track is an informative guide to some of the 20th century’s most extraordinary recordings. Emma Stott missed out on the 1960s and the 1970s and she still isn’t over it, so writing about the greatest decades in rock music helps with her loss. She also writes about literature and education, being an English teacher by day in Manchester, UK, where she forbids any ‘dark sarcasm’ in her classroom.

Synopsis Dance on Its Own Terms by : Melanie Bales
Dance on its Own Terms: Histories and Methodologies anthologizes a wide range of subjects examined from dance-centered methodologies: modes of research that are emergent, based in relevant systems of movement analysis, use primary sources, and rely on critical, informed observation of movement. The anthology fills a gap in current scholarship by emphasizing dance history and core disciplinary knowledge rather than theories imported from disciplines outside dance. Individual chapters serve as case studies that are further organized into three categories of significant dance activity: performance and reconstruction, pedagogy and choreographic process, and notational and other written forms that analyze and document dance. The breadth of the content reflects the richness and vibrancy of the dance field; each deeply informed examination serves as a window opening onto the larger world of dance. Conceptually, each chapter also raises concerns and questions that point to broadly inclusive methodological applications. Engaging and insightful, Dance on its Own Terms represents a major contribution to research on dance.
