Synopsis Strategies to Enhance Air Force Communication with Internal and External Audiences by : National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) helps defend the United States and its interests by organizing, training, and equipping forces for operations in and through three distinct domains-air, space, and cyberspace. The Air Force concisely expresses its vision as "Global Vigilance, Global Reach, and Global Power for America." Operations within each of these domains are dynamic, take place over large distances, occur over different operational timelines, and cannot be routinely seen or recorded, making it difficult for Airmen, national decision makers, and the American People to visualize and comprehend the full scope of Air Force operations. As a result, the Air Force faces increasing difficulty in succinctly and effectively communicating the complexity, dynamic range, and strategic importance of its mission to Airmen and to the American people. To address this concern, the Chief of Staff of the USAF requested that the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convene a workshop to explore options on how the Air Force can effectively communicate the strategic importance of the Service, its mission, and the role it plays in the defense of the United States. Participants worked to address the issues that a diverse workforce encompassing a myriad of backgrounds, education, and increasingly diverse current mission sets drives the requirement for a new communication strategy. The demographics of today's Air Force creates both a unique opportunity and a distinct challenge to Air Force leadership as it struggles to communicate its vision and strategy effectively across several micro-cultures within the organization and to the general public. This report summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.

Synopsis Analytics of Life by : Mert Damlapinar

Analytics of Life provides the reader with a broad overview of the field of data analytics and artificial intelligence. It provides the layperson an understanding of the various stages of artificial intelligence, the risks and powerful benefits. And it provides a way to look at big data and machine learning that enables us to make the most of this exciting new realm of technology in our day-to-day jobs and our small businesses. Questions you can find answers* * What is artificial intelligence (AI)? * What is the difference between AI, machine learning and data analytics? * Which jobs AI will replace, which jobs are safe from data analytics revolution? * Why data analytics is the best career move? * How can I apply data analytics in my job or small business? Who is this book for? * Managers and business professionals * Marketers, product managers, and business strategists * Entrepreneurs, founders and startups team members * Consultants, advisors and educators * Almost anybody who has an interest in the future According to an article by Cade Metz in The New York Times, "Researchers say computer systems are learning from lots and lots of digitized books and news articles that could bake old attitudes into new technology." Oxford University professor Nick Bostrom argues that if machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control. MIT professor Max Tegmark describes and illuminates the recent, ground-breaking advances in Artificial Intelligence and how it might overtake human intelligence. As Oxford University economist Daniel Susskind points out, technological progress could bring about unprecedented prosperity, solving one of humanity's oldest problems: how to make sure that everyone has enough to live on. Distinguished AI researcher and professor of computer science at UC Berkeley, Russell Stuart suggests that we can rebuild AI on a new foundation, according to which machines are designed to be inherently uncertain about the human preferences they are required to satisfy. Industry experts claim that AI will have a negative impact on blue-collar jobs, but Mert predicts that Americans and Europeans will experience a strong impact on white-collar jobs as well. And Mert also provides research results and a clear description of which jobs will be affected and how soon, which jobs could be enhanced with AI. Analytics of Life also provides solutions and insight into some of the most profound changes to come in human history.

Synopsis How to Overcome Communication Barriers in the Workplace - Identify Barriers to Effective Communication and Improve Your Communication by : Meir Liraz

Most of us desire to communicate effectively, but do not have a keen appreciation of the barriers to be faced. Because of these barriers, there is ample opportunity for something to go wrong in any communication. Competent managers develop an awareness of the barriers and learn to cope with them. How effectively do you, as a manager, communicate with your superiors, subordinates, and peers? Do you recognize the barriers to effective communication? Have you learned to cope with them? In the discussion that follows, the principal barriers to communicating effectively in today's working environment are identified, and proven techniques for coping with them are considered, The principal barriers to effective communication are: noise, poor feedback, selection of inappropriate media, a wrong mental attitude, insufficient or lack of attention to work selection, delay in message transmittal, physical separation of the sender and receiver, and lack of empathy or a good relationship between the sender and receiver. This guide examines each of these barriers and possible steps to overcome them. My name is Meir Liraz and I'm the author of this book. According to Dun & Bradstreet, 90% of all business failures analyzed can be traced to poor management. This is backed up by my own experience. In my 31 years as a business coach and consultant to businesses, I've seen practically dozens of business owners fail and go under -- not because they weren't talented or smart enough -- but because they were trying to re-invent the wheel rather than rely on proven, tested methods that work. And that is where this book can help, it will teach you how to avoid the common traps and mistakes and do everything right the first time.
