This is the first systematic volume which presents a detailed introduction to every facet of the modern version of Dynamical Symmetry Breaking which has been rapidly developed in recent years. Most of the lectures are given by pioneers in this new field and are geared mainly to the level of second year graduate students.

The papers presented here focus on new developments in both theoretical and phenomenological aspects of standard theory, with an emphasis on understanding of the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. This workshop covers the formal aspects and the related new models of electroweak symmetry breaking and the present status of the Standard Model.

This is the proceedings of the third Nagoya workshop on Strong Coupling Gauge Theories (SCGT), after SCGT 88 and SCGT 90. As a tradition of the Nagoya SCGT workshops, the focus is on dynamical symmetry breaking with particular emphasis on the nontrivial fixed points and/or large anomalous dimension, which was actually the basis of walking technicolor, strong ETC technicolor and top quark condensate, etc. Special attention is also paid to the fixed point structure in supersymmetric gauge theories, which has recently been highlighted through duality arguments.

Counterfeiting, which has emerged as a recent global phenomenon, has arisen due to economic liberalisation, the changing nature of society and new competitive structures. Branding has become an increasingly important area of research in marketing as well as a crucial decision-making area in strategic marketing management. Counterfeit-related activities challenge the existing theoretical and methodological framework in many ways, particularly consumer behavior and branding. This book brings together the three areas — counterfeiting, branding and consumer behaviour — within a very robust methodological and statistical modelling framework.

The Salamfest was held to honor Prof Abdus Salam whose scientific contribution to the development and dissemination of physics has deeply influenced the course of scientific advancement.
