Synopsis Digital Anatomy by : Jean-François Uhl
This book offers readers fresh insights on applying Extended Reality to Digital Anatomy, a novel emerging discipline. Indeed, the way professors teach anatomy in classrooms is changing rapidly as novel technology-based approaches become ever more accessible. Recent studies show that Virtual (VR), Augmented (AR), and Mixed-Reality (MR) can improve both retention and learning outcomes. Readers will find relevant tutorials about three-dimensional reconstruction techniques to perform virtual dissections. Several chapters serve as practical manuals for students and trainers in anatomy to refresh or develop their Digital Anatomy skills. We developed this book as a support tool for collaborative efforts around Digital Anatomy, especially in distance learning, international and interdisciplinary contexts. We aim to leverage source material in this book to support new Digital Anatomy courses and syllabi in interdepartmental, interdisciplinary collaborations. Digital Anatomy – Applications of Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality provides a valuable tool to foster cross-disciplinary dialogues between anatomists, surgeons, radiologists, clinicians, computer scientists, course designers, and industry practitioners. It is the result of a multidisciplinary exercise and will undoubtedly catalyze new specialties and collaborative Master and Doctoral level courses world-wide. In this perspective, the UNESCO Chair in digital anatomy was created at the Paris Descartes University in 2015 (www.anatomieunesco.org). It aims to federate the education of anatomy around university partners from all over the world, wishing to use these new 3D modeling techniques of the human body.

Synopsis ZBrush Digital Sculpting Human Anatomy by : Scott Spencer
Taking into account that many of today's digital artists -- particularly 3D character animators -- lack foundational artistic instruction, this book teaches anatomy in a coherent and succinct style. A clear writing style explains how to sculpt an accurate human figure, starting with the skeleton and working out to muscle, fat, and skin. Insightful explanations enable you to quickly and easily create and design characters that can be used in film, game, or print, and allows you to gain a strong understanding of the foundational artistic concepts. Note: CD-ROM/DVD and other supplementary materials are not included as part of eBook file.

Synopsis Anatomy for Urologic Surgeons in the Digital Era by : Emre Huri
This book provides a practical guide in the use of imaging and visualization technologies in urology. It details how output from diagnostic systems, can be represented through synthetic, virtual and augmented reality tools, such as holograms and three dimensional (3D) modelling and how they can improve everyday surgical procedures including laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, open, endoscopic along with the latest and most innovative approaches. Anatomy for Urologic Surgeons in the Digital Era: Scanning, Modelling and 3D Printing systematically reviews diagnostic imaging, visualization tools available in urology and is a valuable resource for all practicing and in-training urological surgeons.

Synopsis Digital Human Anatomy and Endoscopic Ultrasonography by : Manoop S. Bhutani
Human Anatomy and Endoscopic Ultrasonography is a comprehensive atlas of normal endosonographic anatomy utilizing correlative images from the Visible Human Data Bank. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is a rapidly growing area of gastroenterology and this text aims to be the definitive work on human endoscopic ultrasonography anatomy. Drs Bhutani and Deutsch are renowned for their work in this expanding area. In addition to covering the principles of UES, the abundantly illustrated text presents views from the major vascular structures, esophagus, stomach, duodenum and the male and female rectum. This work is original and offers a much-needed atlas and training tool of normal human anatomy by EUS. Synopsis Avatar, Assembled by : Jaime Banks
Avatar, Assembled is a curated volume that unpacks videogame and virtual world avatars--not as a monolithic phenomenon (as they are usually framed) but as sociotechnical assemblages, pieced together from social (human-like) features like voice and gesture to technical (machine-like) features like graphics and glitches. Each chapter accounts for the empirical, theoretical, technical, and popular understandings of these avatar "components"--60 in total--altogether offering a nuanced explication of avatars-as-assemblages as they matter in contemporary society and in individual experience. The volume is a "crossover" piece in that, while it delves into complex ideas, it is written in a way that will be accessible and interesting to students, researchers, designers, and practitioners alike.
