Synopsis The Call of Cthulhu by : H. P. Lovecraft

The Call of Cthulhu H. P. Lovecraft - "The Call of Cthulhu" is one of H. P. Lovecraft's most popular brief tales. Written in the late spring of 1926, it was first distributed in Quite a while, February 1928. It is the main story composed by Lovecraft in which the extraterrestrial element Cthulhu himself shows up.It is written in a narrative style, with three autonomous stories connected together by the gadget of a storyteller finding notes left by a perished relative. The storyteller sorts out every bit of relevant information and upsetting meaning of the data he has, representing the story's first line: "The most kind thing on the planet, I believe, is the powerlessness of the human psyche to correspond every one of its substance. We live on a tranquil island of obliviousness amidst dark oceans of boundlessness; and it was not implied that we should journey far."

Synopsis THE CALL OF CTHULHU (Horror Classic) by : H. P. Lovecraft

This carefully crafted ebook: "THE CALL OF CTHULHU (Horror Classic)" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. The Call of Cthulhu is one of Lovecraft's best-known works. It is the only story written by Lovecraft in which the extraterrestrial entity Cthulhu himself makes a major appearance. Narrator Francis Wayland Thurston, recounts his discovery of the strange notes left behind by his granduncle, George Gammell Angell, a prominent Professor of Semitic languages at Brown University. At first the story revolves around a small bas-relief sculpture found among the papers, which the narrator describes: "My somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings". The sculpture is the work of Henry Anthony Wilcox, a student at the Rhode Island School of Design who based the work on delirious dreams of "great Cyclopean cities of titan blocks and sky-flung monoliths, all dripping with green ooze and sinister with latent horror". Frequent references to Cthulhu and R'lyeh are found in papers authored by Wilcox. Angell also discovers reports of "outre mental illnesses and outbreaks of group folly or mania" around the world (in New York City, "hysterical Levantines" mob police; in California, a Theosophist colony dons white robes to await a "glorious fulfillment")... Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American author who achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction. He is now regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre. Some of Lovecraft's work was inspired by his own nightmares. His interest started from his childhood days when his grandfather would tell him Gothic horror stories.

Synopsis The Call Of Cthulhu by : H. P. Lovecraft

“The Call of Cthulhu” introduces H.P. Lovecraft’s most famous creation, the mythological octopus-like creature Cthulhu, one of “The Great Old Ones,” a pantheon of cosmic entities who once ruled Earth but have since fallen into deep slumber. The story is written as an academic account of evidence of Cthulhu, including encounters with the ominous and murderous “Cult of Cthulhu.” Lovecraft’s horror writing served as the basis for what is now called “The Cthulhu Mythos,” a universe created by Lovecraft and subsequent writers—most famously Lovecraft’s publisher August Derleth—that centered around the horror of “The Great Old Ones.” The Cthulhu Mythos has become influential in popular culture and has inspired numerous books, comics, films, and games. HarperCollins brings great works of literature to life in digital format, upholding the highest standards in ebook production and celebrating reading in all its forms. Synopsis The Call of Cthulhu by : H.P. Lovecraft

"The Call of Cthulhu" by Howard Phillips H. P. Lovecraft is one of the classic horror works, so called “Lovecraft horrors”. American author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction, Lovecraft's major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror; the idea that life is incomprehensible to human minds and that the universe is fundamentally alien. Those who genuinely reason, like his protagonists, gamble with sanity. Lovecraft has developed a cult following for his Cthulhu Mythos, a series of loosely interconnected fiction featuring a pantheon of human-nullifying entities, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore. His works were deeply pessimistic and cynical, challenging the values of the Enlightenment, Romanticism, and Christian humanism. Lovecraft's protagonists usually achieve the mirror-opposite of traditional gnosis and mysticism by momentarily glimpsing the horror of ultimate reality. Some people adore it, some people find it way too long (reading it is definitely work), but everyone agrees it’s a monumental story that ties together the universe where “The Call of Cthulhu,” The Shadow Over Innsmouth, “The Dunwich Horror,” and lots of other stories exist. A group of explorers go to Antarctica and discover evidence of a previous civilization. I don’t want to spoil the surprises, but I can at least tell you the big discovery the explorers make: There are things that even monsters fear. Famous works of the author Howard Phillips Lovecraft: At the Mountains of Madness, The Dreams in the Witch House, The Horror at Red Hook, The Shadow Out of Time, The Shadows over Innsmouth, The Alchemist, Herbert West: Reanimator, Ex Oblivione, Azathoth, The Call of Cthulhu, The Cats of Ulthar, The Outsider, The Picture in the House, The Shunned House, The Terrible Old Man, The Tomb, What the Moon Brings. Synopsis The House of Cthulhu by : Brian Lumley

The House of Cthulhu is classic Lovecraftian horror from one of the masters of the form, British Fantasy Award-winner Brian Lumley. Readers are introduced to the weird and wonderful world of Theem'hdra, an island continent of wonders and terrors, where brave men die terrifying deaths, awe-inspiring sorcerers hurl powerful magic at each other, and monsters abound. The volcanic eruption that created the island of Surtsey in 1967 also revealed a long hidden cache of documents that told the fantastic history of Theem'hdra as written by the sorcerer Teh Atht. Building on translations begun by the scholar Thelred Gustau-who vanished under mysterious, some say magical, circumstances-Brian Lumley brings the saga of the Primal Land to readers of today. Here, the wizard Mylarkhrion-most powerful of the terrible magicians who walked the earth in those long-ago days-battles sorcerers jealous of his knowledge, power, and wealth. His own apprentice, thinking he knows all of his master's secrets, challenges him-but Mylarkhrion has one final trick up his sleeve . . . . When the assassin Humbuss Ank, who specializes in killing wizards, makes Mylarkhrion his target, he avoids or destroys nearly all of the sorcerer's traps, forcing Mylarkhrion to a final, desperate gamble for survival. But even Mylarkhrion has a weakness, a lust for power that drives him to summon the Great One, Cthulhu, and so call doom upon himself! The fabled riches of the House of Cthulhu draw thieves and warriors from throughout the civilized-and uncivilized lands, but none escape with so much as a single gemstone, for they discover that Cthulhu's House is not a temple but a dwelling-place. Surely the Elder God lives there still, waiting for an unwary person to open the portal between his world and ours . . . .
