Synopsis Creating Myself by : Mia Tyler
On the surface, Mia Tyler led a seemingly perfect life. She was a world-renowned plus-size model and the daughter of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and seventies It girl Cyrinda Foxe. But growing up under the shadow of celebrity wasn't as glamorous as it's cracked up to be. From a poverty-stricken childhood in New Hampshire to running with troubled rich kids on Manhattan's Upper East Side, she has an incredible story to tell. In Creating Myself, Mia shares scintillating details about her rock-and-roll family, as well as battling her own personal demons: dumping her mother's cocaine vial down the toilet at just eight years old, running around backstage at her father's concerts (including the one where she first met her sister, Liv), and attempting to distract herself from her pain through drug addiction and self-mutilation. Yet this memoir is ultimately a tale of redemption. Mia learns that in order to truly grow up, she must forgive both herself and those who hurt her, give up the quest for perfection, and acknowledge that she is still a work in progress. Creating Myself is raw and inspirational, the tale of a hell-and-back journey from the depths of depression and addiction to triumphant self-discovery.

Synopsis Do I Make Myself Clear? by : Harold Evans
A wise and entertaining guide to writing English the proper way by one of the greatest newspaper editors of our time. Harry Evans has edited everything from the urgent files of battlefield reporters to the complex thought processes of Henry Kissinger. He's even been knighted for his services to journalism. In Do I Make Myself Clear?, he brings his indispensable insight to us all in his definite guide to writing well. The right words are oxygen to our ideas, but the digital era, with all of its TTYL, LMK, and WTF, has been cutting off that oxygen flow. The compulsion to be precise has vanished from our culture, and in writing of every kind we see a trend towards more -- more speed and more information but far less clarity. Evans provides practical examples of how editing and rewriting can make for better communication, even in the digital age. Do I Make Myself Clear? is an essential text, and one that will provide every writer an editor at his shoulder.

Synopsis Making Myself at Home in the World by : Sybilla Green Dorros
This book is the story of a well-traveled and well-informed American expatriate woman, Sybilla Green Dorros. It’s recounted in chapters — one for each place she lived — starting in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and ending in San Diego, California. While the bookend chapters are set in the United States, most of the locations are global. Four of them involved assignments with her family of origin (her parents and the earlier ones with her two sisters): Paris, Léopoldville, Accra, and Casablanca. Two were on her own: Rome and her first stint in Geneva. The last two, and the longest sojourns spanning nearly a quarter century, were in Manila and back in Geneva with her family by marriage (her husband and three children). Each relocation — to disparate countries at different stages of her life — presented new sets of challenges. This book reveals how she tackled these challenges and how she felt — and continues to feel — at home almost anywhere but with nowhere to truly call home.
