Synopsis Cooperating Embedded Systems and Wireless Sensor Networks by : Michel Banatre
A number of different system concepts have become apparent in the broader context of embedded systems over the past few years. Whilst there are some differences between these, this book argues that in fact there is much they share in common, particularly the important notions of control, heterogenity, wireless communication, dynamics/ad hoc nature and cost. The first part of the book covers cooperating object applications and the currently available application scenarios, such as control and automation, healthcare, and security and surveillance. The second part discusses paradigms for algorithms and interactions. The third part covers various types of vertical system functions, including data aggregation, resource management and time synchronization. The fourth part outlines system architecture and programming models, outlining all currently available architectural models and middleware approaches that can be used to abstract the complexity of cooperating object technology. Finally, the book concludes with a discussion of the trends guiding current research and gives suggestions as to possible future developments and how various shortcomings in the technology can be overcome.

Synopsis Cooperative Robots and Sensor Networks 2014 by : Anis Koubaa
This book is the second volume on Cooperative Robots and Sensor Networks. The primary objective of this book is to provide an up-to-date reference for cutting-edge studies and research trends related to mobile robots and wireless sensor networks, and in particular for the coupling between them. Indeed, mobile robots and wireless sensor networks have enabled great potentials and a large space for ubiquitous and pervasive applications. Robotics and wireless sensor networks have mostly been considered as separate research fields and little work has investigated the marriage between these two technologies. However, these two technologies share several features, enable common cyber-physical applications and provide complementary support to each other. The book consists of ten chapters, organized into four parts. The first part of the book presents three chapters related to localization of mobile robots using wireless sensor networks. Two chapters presented new solutions based Extended Kalman Filter and Particle Filter for localizing the robots using range measurements with the sensor network. The third chapter presents a survey on mobility-assisted localization techniques in wireless sensor networks. The second part of the book deals with cooperative robots and sensor networks applications. One chapter presents a comprehensive overview of major applications coupling between robots and sensor networks and provides real-world examples of their cooperation. Two other chapters present applications for underwater robots and sensor networks.

Synopsis Security and Data Reliability in Cooperative Wireless Networks by : Emad Hassan
Following a detailed overview of cooperative communications and the physical layer security, this book proposes relay and jammer selection schemes for security in one-way cooperative networks and to improve physical layer security in two-way cooperative networks. It also proposes a Cooperative Hybrid Self-Healing scheme to enhance the confidentiality of the data collected by UWSN. It ends with a proposal called Self-Healing Cluster Controlled Mobility (SH-CCM) scheme based on hybrid cooperation between both Proactive and Reactive peers and the sick sensors at both network and cluster levels to guarantee the security in UWSN.
