Synopsis Comparative Pathobiology by : Victor Sprague
Volume two of this series is a comprehensive review of the current knowledge of microsporidian taxonomy. It is a supplement to volume one that deals with the biology of the microsporidia. Together, they provide the broadest possible coverage of this group of microorganisms that has received considerable attention because of their importance in invertebrate and vertebrate disease. Volume two contains the most complete published list of micro sporidian species, outlines their classification and phylogeny, and provides a zoological distribution. The driving force in compiling all of this information was Victor Sprague of the University of Maryland. Dr. Sprague has spent his scientific career researching many different facets of micro sporidia and no other person is regarded as expert as he. Certainly, the wealth of information contgined herein cannot be found elsewhere in any single coverage. Therefore, the publi cation of Volumes one and two sets a milestone for microspori diology and it is our hope that the readers of these two volumes will share the enthusiasm of the authors and contributors and will reap rich reward from their unique and profound insight. Lee A. BuZZa~ Jr.

Synopsis Current Topics in Comparative Pathobiology by : Thomas C. Cheng
Current Topics in Comparative Pathobiology, Volume 2 covers several areas of pathobiology. The book discusses the biology of trematodes of the genus Paragonimus that occur in the Americas; the milky disease of beetles; and the biochemical exploration in insect pathology. The text describes the application of invertebrate tissue culture to the in vitro study of animal parasites; and the use of hydra-hydramoeba as a model system for the study of epizootic processes. The aspects of the biology of nudibranchs are reviewed, with emphasis on nudibranchs as members of associations, including functional morphology, physiology, utilization of host pigments and nematocysts, life history, behavior, defensive mechanisms, and ecology. Chemists, bacteriologists, parasitologists, invertebrate pathologists, immunologists, and protozoologists will find the book invaluable.

Synopsis Veterinary Ocular Pathology by : Richard R. Dubielzig
Veterinary Ocular Pathology: A Comparative Review links the clinical features of ocular disease with gross and microscopic pathology to demonstrate the essential features observable during diagnosis. It is designed to be kept next to the microscope as an invaluable guide to accurate diagnosis in ocular pathology. The book presents a wide range of images of the highest quality. A unique and distinctive feature is the juxtaposition of clinical and pathological images while offering detailed enumeration of the diagnostic features. Expert comparative comments by Dr Daniel Albert and contextual information on relative incidence are provided throughout. The authors address spontaneous disease of the eye in all animal species, with a particular emphasis on companion species. In addition, specific, common or interesting conditions of exotic species are included. - The first text devoted to the pathology of spontaneous diseases of the eyes and periocular tissues of domestic animal species - Exceptionally high quality illustrations are presented throughout, demonstrating clinical features, gross pathology and histopathology - Written by pathologists and clinicians - Includes a chapter devoted to the pathology of conditions associated with glaucoma in domestic animals A convenient, comprehensive and easy-to-use reference for veterinary pathologists, veterinary ophthalmologists, students and comparative vision scientists. - The first text devoted to the pathology of spontaneous diseases of the eyes and periocular tissues of domestic animal species - Exceptionally high quality illustrations are presented throughout, demonstrating clinical features, gross pathology and histopathology - Written by pathologists and clinicians - Includes a chapter devoted to the pathology of conditions associated with glaucoma in domestic animals
