Synopsis Shattered Lives by : Jeff Ingber
On January 24, 1975, six young businessmen were enjoying lunch in lower Manhattan’s historic Fraunces Tavern when a bomb placed inside the restaurant exploded, tearing through the building. It had been planted by a group claiming support for Puerto Rican independence known as the “FALN,” the most active domestic terrorist organization in American history. Among those businessmen were two sons of immigrants and only children–Frank Connor, with a wife and two young boys, and Alex Berger, whose wife was six months pregnant. Both were murdered, along with two other men, while dozens were injured, many horrifically.Shattered Lives, co-authored by Jeff Ingber and Joe Connor, Frank Connor’s son, chronicles the origins of the Puerto Rican independence movement, its transformation into a Cuban-led Marxist cause, the FALN’s decade-long reign of murder and destruction that was a precursor to future domestic terrorism, the hunt for the perpetrators by a group of dedicated FBI agents, the inexplicable escape from prison by the FALN’s chief bombmaker who eventually received asylum in Cuba, and the political maneuvering that led to Presidents Clinton and Obama granting clemency to FALN members.Through extensive, exclusive interviews with survivors and family, Shattered Lives describes the devastating impact of the Fraunces Tavern bombing on the Connor and Berger families and its many other victims, including NYPD officers, uniting them in their struggle to move forward while seeking justice for their loved ones.

Synopsis Days of Rage by : Bryan Burrough
The Weathermen. The Symbionese Liberation Army. The FALN. The Black Liberation Army. The names seem quaint now, but there was a stretch of time in America when there was on average more than one significant terrorist act in the U.S. every week. The FBI combated these groups and others as nodes in a single revolutionary underground, dedicated to the violent overthrow of the American government. Thus began a decade-long battle between the FBI and these homegrown terrorists, compellingly and thrillingly documented in Days of Rage.

Synopsis Pre-Incident Indicators of Terrorist Incidents by : Brent L. Smith
This is a print on demand edition of a hard to find publication. Explores whether sufficient data exists to examine the temporal and spatial relationships that existed in terrorist group planning, and if so, could patterns of preparatory conduct be identified? About one-half of the terrorists resided, planned, and prepared for terrorism relatively close to their eventual target. The terrorist groups existed for 1,205 days from the first planning meeting to the date of the actual/planned terrorist incident. The planning process for specific acts began 2-3 months prior to the terrorist incident. This study examined selected terrorist groups/incidents in the U.S. from 1980-2002. It provides for the potential to identify patterns of conduct that might lead to intervention prior to the commission of the actual terrorist incidents. Illustrations.

Synopsis Irrational Indictment & Imprisonment by : Jon Schiller
This is a horrible, true story of an unbelievable and unfair indictment and imprisonment of a loyal American whose only crime was to misread the USG export regulations. He spent all his money on an expensive lawyer who said, 2 days before the trial, 'You are going to prison.' Dr. Ernest Kelly replied, 'How can I be imprisoned since I did nothing wrong?' His lawyer answered, 'The prisons are full of people who did nothing wrong ' Terrified, Ernest and his wife caught the next plane to Europe and spent the next 17 years living a new life in Spain until he was arrested and learned what it was like to live in a Spanish prison. Extradited to Los Angeles, on the advice of his lawyer he agreed to a plea bargain and pled guilty since he didn't have enough money for a trial. The judge ignored the advice of the probation officer assigned by the court to evaluate Dr. Kelly's case that he be released with time served and instead sentenced him to 2 years in prison and 2 years' probation.
