On January 24, 1975, six young businessmen were enjoying lunch in lower Manhattan’s historic Fraunces Tavern when a bomb placed inside the restaurant exploded, tearing through the building. It had been planted by a group claiming support for Puerto Rican independence known as the “FALN,” the most active domestic terrorist organization in American history. The terrorist groups existed for 1,205 days from the first planning meeting to the date of the actual/planned terrorist incident. The planning process for specific acts began 2-3 months prior to the terrorist incident. This study examined selected terrorist groups/incidents in the U.S. from 1980-2002. Extradited to Los Angeles, on the advice of his lawyer he agreed to a plea bargain and pled guilty since he didn't have enough money for a trial. The judge ignored the advice of the probation officer assigned by the court to evaluate Dr. Kelly's case that he be released with time served and instead sentenced him to 2 years in prison and 2 years' probation.
