We can say that in this serie we will give to the readers the opportunity to have in their tablets, iPhones, iPads and PCs a powerful source of ideas for projects and informartions. Microcrocontrollers such as Arduino, MSP430, PICs and others can ́t source a large amount of current to loads like motors, relays and lamps. They also can ́t work with signals sourced by some types of sensors plugged to their inputs. In these cases they need special ads, circuits to allow the use of power loads and sensor. These circuits are called shields. This book is a collection of 100 circuits of shields including drive to high current loads, motors, sensor, to produce audio signals and much more.

During the long career of the author as a writer of technical articles and books, he have on several occasions addressed the theme "collection of circuits", also including information. Thus, previously, addressing this theme, he published the series "Circuits and Information" (7 volumes) and "Circuits and Solutions" (5 volumes) containing hundreds of useful circuits and technical information of all kinds. The series has run out, time has passed, but readers still charge us something similar updated and that can still be used in projects of all kinds. In fact, basic circuits using ordinary discrete components, from transistors to integrated circuits, are still widely used as simple solutions for immediate problems, part of more advanced projects and even for didactic purposes, at the request of a teacher who needs an application for a theory. So, he is back with this series, but with a differentiated structure, new projects and a new approach. The difference in approach will be to divide the various volumes of the series by themes, we will have audio circuits,such as amplifiers, preamplifiier, mixers, etc. In his stock of circuits, collected from all possible sources, he already have more than 12,000 of them, many of which can be accessed in a dispersed way in the site of the author. The advantage of having these circuits organized in volumes, besides access anywhere, is in the easy location of a circuit. The information, on the other hand, will be added to the circuits, with internal links, which is only possible in a digital publication. Most of these circuits, collected in publications that, in some cases, may not be very current, receive a special treatment with comments, suggestions and updates that make possible its execution even in our days.

Some years ago I had written a book directed to anyone who designs electronic and electric circuits. Engineers, technicians, teachers, students and hobbyists took a real benefit from that book. The original book is now out of print, being available only used issues. Since the book is very useful, the author decided to review the old edition, add new content and so create a new book for anyone who need a fast access to formulas, tables and calculations when designing his projects or solving a problem. The author, who has himself designed multitudes of projects and circuits during his life, publishing many books and hundreds of articles in electronics magazines and teaching electronics, has collected an assortment of all basic information necessary for calculations needed when designing new projects or solving a problem. More part of these formulas and calculations is now in the author ́s site. The site also has versions in Portuguese and in Spanish. In the site the reader will also find practical examples in projects or articles where many of the formulas shown in this book are used. When starting a project or solving a problem the main difficulty the designer or student founds is how to locate the desired information. This information is normally spread over a large number of resources, such as books, handbooks, Internet, and magazine articles. Although many of us who are experienced in electronics have in mind the principal formulas, we sometimes have trouble with the forgotten constant, multiplication factor or exponent. Finding these values is sometimes difficult depending of the circumstances, such as where you are at the time, or the amount of resources at your disposal.

During more than 30 years, as a collaborator with American, European and Latin American electronics magazines (*), has published a large assortment of practical circuits using common parts. In 1999 he included the first selection in a volume published by Prompt Publications in USA. The idea was to proceed with the series, publishing many volumes more. But, Prompt closed his activities and the idea was forgotten although the first volume became a best seller. Now with his own publishing house (NCB Publications) the author returned with the idea of make many volumes more of the series. So, the second volume is here proceeding with the same idea: give simple projects to the experimenters who want learn electronics using common parts and with no need of special knowledge about electronics. So, as in the first volume, many of the projects collected by the author are included in this volume, most of which you can build in one evening. The projects range from fun types through practical types to amusement types. Of course, there are other devices that can be used to teach you something about circuits and components. An important feature of theses projects are the ideas to Explore, intended for students looking for projects in science or to use in practical research. This ideal can be complemented by our book Science Fair and Technology Education Projects, also published in English by the author. Para esta edición hemos elegido otro envío con 100 circuitos que pueden utilizarse para el Arduino y otros microcontroladores como punto de partida.
