Synopsis Chinese Characters and Vocabulary. For the Test of Chinese As A Foreign Language (TOCFL) in the Republic of China (Taiwan) by : Muhammad Wolfgang G. A. Schmidt
Chinese Language Proficiency Tests with five language proficiency difficulty levels (TOCFL) in the Republic of China differ significantly from their counterparts in Mainland China (HSK). For a number of reasons, textbooks to prepare for the five different language proficiency difficulty levels of this test are difficult to obtain in Western countries. This book tries to fill the gap and helps the user prepare for all the five test levels by studying and training the essential vocabulary and traditional Chinese character items. A list of simplified character versions corresponding to their original traditional variants has been added to the end of the book.

Synopsis Chinese for Specific and Professional Purposes by : Hongyin Tao
This book, likely the first of its kind in the English language, explores Chinese for specific and professional purposes (CSP) in terms of theorizing and developing practical applications for language teaching and learning. While research in language for specific purposes is thriving for languages such as English, there has been comparatively little such research conducted for Chinese. This volume attempts to fill the gap by bringing together practitioners from a broad international scholarly community, who share common interests yet diverse orientations. Seventeen papers are included, and address four broad thematic categories: (1) academic Chinese, (2) business Chinese, (3) Chinese for medicine and health care, and (4) Chinese for other broadly defined services and industries (diplomacy, tourism, wine-tasting, etc.). Representing the state of the art in CSP research, the book offers an indispensable guide for anyone interested in theoretical and practical issues in this area of applied Chinese language studies.

Synopsis Benchmarking Higher Education System Performance by : ORGANISATION FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT.
The scope of contemporary higher education is wide, and concerns about the performance of higher education systems are widespread. The number of young people with a higher education qualification is expected to surpass 300 million in OECD and G20 countries by 2030. Higher education systems are faced with challenges that include expanding access, containing costs, and ensuring the quality and relevance of provision. The project on benchmarking higher education system performance provides a comprehensive and empirically rich review of the higher education landscape across OECD countries, taking stock of how well they are performing in meeting their education, research and engagement responsibilities.

Synopsis Indonesia-Taiwan Relations by : Prof. Dr. Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, Ph.D.
[This book is written in Dual Language: English & Mandarin] This book is a collection of researches from the Taiwan Studies Project research team of Bina Nusantara University. This book consists of three parts. First, the relationship between Indonesia and Taiwan in the context of the New Southbound Policy. This part describes the collaboration scheme of the Taiwanese government, industry and high school in Indonesia to improve human resource competencies by providing scholarships for economically disadvantaged Indonesian students to study in Taiwan. It also illustrates the obstacles faced in implementing the New Southbound Policy in Indonesia due to the language and culture constraints of Taiwan and Indonesia. Second part discusses about cross culture. Through cultural acculturation research, it is hoped that Indonesia and Taiwan will better acknowledge each other's culture and realize the similarities in culture, especially in the Potehi puppet show, which is still performed in Taiwan today by using Hokkien. Whereas, the Potehi puppet show in Indonesia already uses Indonesian regional languages besides Hokkien. Also, the influence of Chinese culture on Betawi Bridal Dress. This closeness in history and culture is expected to be the glue of Taiwan and Indonesia relations. Last, the third part illustrates the BINUS University lecturers' visitation to Taiwan. They visit several places and Indonesian young people who obtained a scholarship from university in Taiwan. From this visitation, readers will better understand the good intentions of the Taiwanese government to help the development of the Indonesian economy by providing opportunities for young Indonesians to become educated and trained personnel when they graduate from higher institutions.
