Geoffrey Chaucer was an English poet in the Late Middle Ages who is generally known as the Father of English literature. Chaucer's work became crucial towards the use of the English language as French and Latin had been more prevalent in England at the time. Chaucer for Children is a collection of some of the great author's poems and Canterbury tales that are most suitable for kids.

Geoffrey Chaucer (1343-1400), known as the Father of English Literature, is widely considered the greatest English poet of the Middle Ages. In this book by M. E. Haweis, children are introduced to this poet and his major literary work, The Canterbury Tales, as well as a few of this lesser known poems. Canterbury Tales are full of cheerfulness and fun; full of love for the beautiful world, and full of sympathy for all who are in trouble or misery. In this book you will find two versions of Chaucer's poetry. First, the lines as Chaucer wrote them are presented, and then the same lines in English as we speak. You can thus look at both, and compare them. A few of Chaucer's other poems are included at the end of the book.
