Synopsis Chasing the Butterfly Man by : Cybele Gontar
Today, eighteen Butterfly Man armoires (ca. 1815) are documented as having been made in the same New Orleans workshop. While their maker's identity remains a mystery, his cabinets represent the zenith of craftsmanship in early nineteenth-century Louisiana. In order to contextualize the Butterfly Man's story, this study explores the history and use of the armoire in Europe and Louisiana and considers early nineteenth-century cabinetmaking in New Orleans. Who were the early cabinetmakers and where were they from? What was their place in the social fabric of New Orleans? What were the Butterfly Man's influences and how do his armoires reflect them? Who might the Butterfly Man have been?Chasing the Butterfly Man: The Search for a Lost New Orleans Cabinetmaker, 1810-1825, written by New Orleans art historian Cybèle Gontar and published by the Louisiana Museum Foundation, is the first comprehensive exploration of this New Orleans cabinetmaker, his construction methods, and the on-going search for his identity.

Synopsis Chase the Butterflies by : Monica James
"Victoria, will you marry me?" Those words changed my life forever...just not in the way it would for most. I had it all until one fateful evening transformed my life in ways I never imagined. Nine months later, I move to a sleepy little town, hoping to escape the demons of my past. As I attempt to claim back my life, Jude Montgomery enters my world, and things begin to change. I thought running would appease the nightmares, but I soon discover my past won't let go. Things are not what they seem, and I begin to question the world as I know it. Jude may hold the answers, but will my love for him blind me to the truth? Does the flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas? In my case, yes, it does. Will the truth set me free? Or will it imprison us both? My name is Victoria Armstrong, and this is my story...I think.

Synopsis The Fallen Stones by : Diana Marcum
On a butterfly farm in the Maya Mountains, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of the national bestseller The Tenth Island finds enduring hope during cataclysmic times. Atop a hill in the rainforest of Belize, next to the ruins of a fallen civilization, a butterfly farm raises the brilliant blue morpho. What starts out as the worst vacation ever turns into a quest to learn more about the first-of-its-kind farm when journalist Diana Marcum inadvertently discovers this wildlife sanctuary, which is supported by an international live-butterfly trade. She quickly becomes acquainted with Clive, the whimsical British millionaire whose childhood passion created an industry, and Sebastian, the Maya farm manager whose stern expression belies a soft heart. Before long Diana and her partner, Jack Moody--new to being a couple--have moved into a long-empty jungle house, cohabitating with bats, scorpions, toucans, iguanas, and the vulnerable but resilient butterflies. Just ahead, although they don't know it, are a hurricane and a global pandemic. This warm, funny tale of finding a way forward when the world seems to be falling apart is filled with the beauty of the natural world and a heartfelt cry to protect it--beginning with butterflies.

Synopsis Chasing Butterflies by : Marcia Ranglin - Vassell
Chasing Butterflies is a collection of quotations, poems and the simple joys of life. It is about my life and the way I choose to live it for my God, my family and the people I come in contact with every day. The poems and quotations in this book are original and come from my over thirty five years of writing. I decided to write this amazing book for two reasons. Firstly, my Mom who is an avid reader encouraged me to write a book that she could actually sit on her porch to read and enjoy. Secondly, I wanted to share the richness of my life experiences with not just my inner circle but the entire world. Growing up in Jamaica, almost every conversation was peppered or sweetened with Bible verses or quotations. My grandparents, especially my grandmother had a word for every situation or problem. My love and appreciation for the spoken word increased as I got older. I soon realized how potent words are. So, I do not use words frivolously. I think about what I say carefully. As my late grandmother would say weigh your words before you speak, because words carry weight. The title of this book comes from my love of butterflies. As a young girl, I would spend numerous hours chasing butterflies. I even remember being struck by a passing car as my friend Marcia S. and I chased butterflies on our way home from school. Luckily I was not badly hurt. Chasing Butterflies will not disappoint its readers. It draws from my experiences as a mother, wife, employee, sister, friend and most importantly a child of God. This book will inspire readers everywhere. It will provide support, affirmation, guidance, consolation and laughter. Chasing Butterflies is a book for all season. It is the work of my heart and a timeless treasure that everyone should have in their collection.
