Synopsis OECD Development Pathways Multi-dimensional Review of El Salvador Strategic Priorities for Robust, Inclusive and Sustainable Development by : OECD
El Salvador has made significant development progress in the past 30 years. The end of the civil war in 1992 marked the establishment of a liberal democracy and an open export-led development model, which led to a reduction in poverty and inequality. However, with economic growth averaging a modest 2.4% in the years before the COVID-19 pandemic, and productivity growth of 0.1% over the past decade, the post-war model has not generated the economic momentum or the jobs that the country needs.

Synopsis 2021 Comprehensive Surveillance Review— Background Paper on The Surveillance Priority Confronting Risks and Uncertainties by : International Monetary
The coverage of risks has become more systematic since the Global Financial Crisis (GFC): staff reports now regularly identify major risks and provide an assessment of their likelihood and economic impact, summarized in Risk Assessment Matrices (RAM). But still limited attention is paid to the range of possible outcomes. Also, risk identification is useful only so much as to inform policy design to preemptively respond to relevant risks and/or better prepare for them. In this regard, policy recommendations in surveillance could be richer in considering various risk management approaches. To this end, progress is needed on two dimensions: • Increasing emphasis on the range of potential outcomes to improve policy design. • Encouraging more proactive policy advice on how to manage risks. Efforts should continue to leverage internal and external resources to support risk analysis and advice in surveillance.

Synopsis Report of the meeting to review the paediatric antituberculosis drug optimization priority list by :
The Paediatric Antituberculosis Drug Optimization (PADO-TB) meetings provide a forum for clinicians, researchers, financial and technical partners and other relevant key stakeholders to work together, to ensure that priority optimal paediatric formulations of TB medicines are investigated, developed and made available to children in a timely manner. After the first meeting (PADO-TB1) in February 2019, WHO hosted an interim review of the PADO-TB1 priorities. The review considered the latest WHO recommendations and other relevant developments since February 2019, such as results of clinical trials, results of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics studies, new formulations available and advancements of key drugs in the TB research and development pipeline. The 4.5-hour virtual review was attended by more than 50 experts including clinicians, researchers, representatives of national TB programmes (NTPs) from high TB burden countries, community representatives, financial and technical partners, members of the Child and Adolescent TB Working Group and representatives from various international agencies, including WHO. This report summarizes the main developments presented for various TB medicines and the decisions taken with regard to the PADO-TB priority list.

Synopsis 2021 Comprehensive Surveillance Review— Background Paper on The Surveillance Priority Preempting and Mitigating Spillovers by : International Monetary
The Fund has a range of modalities and tools to cover spillovers. However, there remains scope to enhance synergies between global and country-specific spillover coverage and to foster cross-country dialogue. Practical guidance and enhanced information-sharing would also allow for more systematic surveillance of spillovers. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need to continue expanding the research frontier covering new spillovers and channels and developing new tools and data sets. Therefore, filling these remaining gaps in the Fund’s spillover work would allow for a more coordinated and evenhanded surveillance of spillovers.
