This is a catalog with full-page color reproductions of sheets selected from Morton's notebook and sketchbook from 1968 to 1977. Back material includes an exhibition checklist, a 3-page essay by Allen Schwartzman titled Ree Morton - a reconsideration; an afterword by Barbara Zucker, and acknowledgments by Janie Cohen. The catalog was published on the occasion of an exhibition by the same title held at the Robert Hull Fleming Museum, University of Vermont.

The imagery in this book, which revolves around radial shapes and concepts, also forms the basis of a video work in the exhibition. Specific for the book is the use of two separate layers of black ink, allowing Suter to create double images and to merge patterns and screens. Departing from pages scanned from her collection of second hand tomes--mainly concerning natural science, precision machinery, and art history--Suter freely manipulates them and reorders them within the space of a book, which can be seen as a condensed exhibition on paper. The result is a journey along visual phenomena that reconnects us with the endless curiosity and patience of our younger selves leafing through an encyclopedia, unattended and unable to read, yet all the more sensitive to its inner visual rhymes and correspondences. This volume is published on the occasion of Batia Suter?s exhibition at the Mauvoisin Dam in Switzerland. Suter focuses on her ever-expanding archive of scanned landscape images, which has already played an important role in her earlier publications. Many of the images depict wastelands, alternating between romantic and menacing views which create simultaneous sensations of majesty and disorientation. Through layering, a variety of disparate geological and biological environments merge into composite, dreamlike landscapes in a kind of adventurous journey. These 1000 edited texts combined with screenshots taken from the videos introduce the origin, background and meaning of the dance styles. Abstract painting meets theosophical spirituality in 1930s New Mexico: the first book on a radical, astonishingly prescient episode in American modernism Founded in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, in 1938, at a time when social realism reigned in American art, the Transcendental Painting Group (TPG) sought to promote abstract art that pursued enlightenment and spiritual illumination. The nine original members of the Transcendental Painting Group were Emil Bisttram, Robert Gribbroek, Lawren Harris, Raymond Jonson, William Lumpkins, Florence Miller Pierce, Agnes Pelton, Horace Towner Pierce and Stuart Walker. They were later joined by Ed Garman. Despite the quality of their works, these Southwest artists have been neglected in most surveys of American art, their paintings rarely exhibited outside of New Mexico. Faced with the double disadvantage of being an openly spiritual movement from the wrong side of the Mississippi, the TPG has remained a secret mostly known only to cognoscenti. Another World: The Transcendental Painting Group aims to address this slight, claiming the group's artists as crucial contributors to an alternative through-line in 20th-century abstraction, one with renewed relevance today.
