Synopsis Notes on Some Mining Districts in Eastern Nevada (Classic Reprint) by : James M. Hill

Excerpt from Notes on Some Mining Districts in Eastern Nevada Up to 'the year 1908 the work of the Geological Survey in Nevada had consisted of regional geologic reconnaissance, the detailed study of certain important mining districts, and the reconnaissance of a few of the less productive or less active districts, the work last named being incidental to other investigations. During that year a begin ning was made in an effort to obtain some first-hand knowledge of the geologic relations of the ores in Virtually all the mining dis tricts of Nevada. One object of this work was to gather material which might subsequently be used in a general summary report on the geology and ore deposits of the State. Another was to pro cure and disseminate information concerning the less known and to a large extent undeveloped and comparatively inaccessible dis tricts. In pursuance of this plan a number of reconnaissance re ports1 have been published. The present report completes the series.
