Synopsis Automatic Control, Robotics, and Information Processing by : Piotr Kulczycki

This book presents a wide and comprehensive range of issues and problems in various fields of science and engineering, from both theoretical and applied perspectives. The desire to develop more effective and efficient tools and techniques for dealing with complex processes and systems has been a natural inspiration for the emergence of numerous fields of science and technology, in particular control and automation and, more recently, robotics. The contributions gathered here concern the development of methods and algorithms to determine best practices regarding broadly perceived decisions or controls. From an engineering standpoint, many of them focus on how to automate a specific process or complex system. From a tools-based perspective, several contributions address the development of analytic and algorithmic methods and techniques, devices and systems that make it possible to develop and subsequently implement the automation and robotization of crucial areas of human activity. All topics discussed are illustrated with sample applications.

Synopsis Frontiers Of Intelligent Control And Information Processing by : Derong Liu

The current research and development in intelligent control and information processing have been driven increasingly by advancements made from fields outside the traditional control areas, into new frontiers of intelligent control and information processing so as to deal with ever more complex systems with ever growing size of data and complexity. As researches in intelligent control and information processing are taking on ever more complex problems, the control system as a nuclear to coordinate the activity within a system increasingly need to be equipped with the capability to analyze, and reason so as to make decision. This requires the support of cognitive components, and communication protocol to synchronize events within the system to operate in unison. In this review volume, we invited several well-known experts and active researchers from adaptive/approximate dynamic programming, reinforcement learning, machine learning, neural optimal control, networked systems, and cyber-physical systems, online concept drift detection, pattern recognition, to contribute their most recent achievements into the development of intelligent control systems, to share with the readers, how these inclusions helps to enhance the cognitive capability of future control systems in handling complex problems. This review volume encapsulates the state-of-art pioneering works in the development of intelligent control systems. Proposition and evocations of each solution is backed up with evidences from applications, could be used as references for the consideration of decision support and communication components required for today intelligent control systems.

Synopsis Noise-Controlling Casings by : Marek Pawelczyk

Noise-Controlling Casings offers a range of feasible noise-controlling strategies for different kinds of devices generating excessive noise. Depending on the required performance and the availability of energy sources, three solution categories are presented: passive (no external energy is needed, but performance is limited), semi-active (little energy is needed, but performance achieves higher values) and active (best performance, but an external energy source is needed). Two very important benefits of these proposed solutions are global noise reduction (in an entire enclosure or the surrounding space) and compact technology (contrary to other active noise control solutions requiring a large number of secondary sources and distributed sensors). Many of the solutions presented are original approaches by the authors, their own developed concepts and new elements and designs that have gained recognition in prestigious journals. The book provides a theoretical background to the research, looking at system configurations, mathematical modelling, signal processing implementation and numerical analysis. The proposed ideas can be applied to any devices provided they have casings of thin walls or they can be enclosed by casings of thin walls. Applications include industrial devices, household appliances, vehicle or aircraft cabins and more. This book will be of interest to professionals and students in the fields of acoustics, vibration, signal processing, control, automotive and aircraft engineering.

Synopsis Fractional Dynamical Systems: Methods, Algorithms and Applications by : Piotr Kulczycki

This book presents a wide and comprehensive spectrum of issues and problems related to fractional-order dynamical systems. It is meant to be a full-fledge, comprehensive presentation of many aspects related to the broadly perceived fractional-order dynamical systems which constitute an extension of the traditional integer-order-type descriptions. This implies far-reaching consequences, both analytic and algorithmic, because—in general—properties of the traditional integer-order systems cannot be directly extended by a straightforward generalization to fractional-order systems, modeled by fractional-order differential equations involving derivatives of an non-integer order. This can be useful for describing and analyzing, for instance, anomalies in the behavior of various systems, chaotic behavior, etc. The book contains both analytic contributions with state-of-the-art and theoretical foundations, algorithmic implementation of tools and techniques, and—finally—some examples of relevant and successful practical applications.

Synopsis Uncertainty and Imprecision in Decision Making and Decision Support: New Advances, Challenges, and Perspectives by : Krassimir T. Atanassov

This book is composed of selected papers from the Sixteenth National Conference on Operational and Systems Research, BOS-2020, held on December 14-15, 2020, one of premiere conferences in the field of operational and systems research. The second is the Nineteenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Generalized Nets, IWIFSGN 2020, held on December 10-11, 2020, in Warsaw, Poland, in turn—one of premiere conferences on fuzzy logic, notably on extensions of the traditional fuzzy sets, also comprising a considerable part on the generalized nets (GNs), an important extension of the traditional Petri nets. A joint publication of selected papers from the two conferences follows a long tradition of such a joint organization and—from a substantial point of view—combines systems modeling, systems analysis, broadly perceived operational research, notably optimization, decision making, and decision support, with various aspects of uncertain and imprecise information and their related tools and techniques.
