Synopsis Atlas of FFR-Guided Percutaneous Coronary Interventions by : Tommaso Gori

This book reviews the theory and practice of fractional flow reserve (FFR)-guided coronary intervention, a technique that gives sense and a rationale to daily decisions in the interventional suite. FFR guidance provides detailed information on coronary hemodynamics for the interventional cardiologist. This technique has profound practical implications for therapeutic decisions and for the prognosis of patients. The Atlas of FFR-Guided Percutaneous Coronary Interventions provides practicing physicians clear information to understand both the complexity of the technique and the correct way to apply it. It is designed both to assist younger faculty and those in training, and to act as a clinical resource for more experienced practitioners. Using the clinical cases outlined, the reader can learn to appreciate the pitfalls, tips and tricks that simplify the performance and interpretation of FFR and iFR.

Synopsis Atlas of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography by : Matthew J. Budoff

This atlas is a comprehensive visual reference for the use of cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) containing photomicrographs, anatomic illustrations, tables, and charts paired with extensive legends and explanations that are supplemented by extensive research, peer-reviewed articles, and textbooks. In addition to providing historical perspective and current direction for CT, this new edition of Atlas of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography 2e focuses on research involving coronary artery diseases and anomalies, congestive heart failure, atherosclerotic plaques and asymptomatic disease, as well as imaging techniques, including preparation, acquisition, and processing, involving the great vessels and carotids, the peripheral vasculature, and coronary and pulmonary veins. The increasing role of CT in the emergency room and in private cardiology practice is also reviewed thoroughly, making this an essential read for all involved in cardiac imaging, cardiology and emergency medicine.

Synopsis Microcirculation by : Maria Dorobantu

This comprehensive reference book of coronary microcirculation broadly covers theoretical aspects, clinical cases and therapeutic considerations from an innovative perspective. Topics covered include: ischemic heart disease, silent cerebral damage, heart failure, left ventricular hypertrophy arrhythmias, and cerebral and renal microcirculation. Microcirculation: From Bench to Bedside underlines the clinical importance of addressing coronary microcirculation with relevant clinical examples that are often encountered by practitioners. It therefore provides a critical resource on microcirculation for both specialist and non-specialist practitioners.

Synopsis Atlas of Coronary Intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography by : Annapoorna Kini

This atlas is a practical and fully illustrated guide to the use of intravascular OCT in diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease. It consists of two parts. The first part of the book provides a systematic introduction to coronary imaging with OCT. It describes how to interpret images and describes abnormal findings seen in atherosclerosis, complications after intervention, and stent assessment. The second part of the book presents real-life case studies that show how OCT is used in clinical practice in Mount Sinai to assess the disease, select appropriate treatment, and evaluate complications and results. Each case includes a brief clinical history, procedure summary, angiography and OCT images, including video material, and a discussion of how OCT affected the clinical decision-making process.

Synopsis Coronary Pressure by : N.H. Pijls

Cardiologists must answer three important questions when evaluating and treating patients with a coronary artery stenosis. As a physiologist: "What is the effect of this stenosis on coronary blood flow and myocardial function?"; as a clinician: " Is this lesion responsible for the patient's symptoms?"; and finally as an interventionalist: "Will revascularization of this artery improve the patient?" Fundamentally, the answer to these questions can be given to a large extent by measuring coronary pressure. That is the rationale of writing this book. 1. 1 Historical overview. Andreas Gruentzig and most interventional cardiologists in the early days of PTCA, had the intuitive feeling that pressure measurements could help to establish the severity of a coronary stenosis and to monitor the progress and result of a coronary intervention. At that time, measuring coronary pressure by the balloon catheter was part of a standard procedure. A residual transstenotic gradient of less than 15 mmHg was generally considered as a good result. Later, however, it turned out that measuring these (resting) gradients with balloon catheters was inaccurate an only had a limited prognostic value. Moreover, because there was no consistent theory to correlate pressure measurements to blood flow, the interest in measuring coronary pressures faded and disappeared almost completely with the introduction of new balloon catheters not intended for pressure measurement.

Synopsis Handbook of Complications during Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions by : Eric Eeckhout

Percutaneous interventions may be very demanding, challenging and complicated. Even in apparently simple cases, this is true. This superb handbook is the first to focus solely on complications during percutaneous cardiovascular interventions. Handbook of Complications during Percutaneous Coronary Interventions provides both the neophyte and the experienced interventional cardiologist with guidance on how to prevent and to treat complications in the cath lab. The editors and the excellent team of contributors ensure that the reader is provided with practically-oriented advice, as well as tips and tricks, many of which are not included in the classic textbooks.
