Synopsis As the Lily Grows by : Lilian (Lily) Smith

I found out to cultivate and grow any garden it takes time and much maintenance, plus lots of sunshine and rain. This Lily from the start was high maintenance in the hands of the Master Gardener. I began as a fragile Lily full of fears and anxiety until I allowed the Master Gardener to take control of my life. These words I have written are comprised of many years sitting in Gods sunshine and drinking from His well of living water. It was there this Lily began to grow and I would notice how soon I began to wilt as I stayed away and took on the cares of this world. As you read these pages, allow the heavenly Father to speak to you. May they be as love letters from the heavenly Father to you. Bringing encouragement, peace and hope in this hopeless world today. May this book show you just how much your heavenly Father loves you. Lilian Smith was born in Queens, New York. At the age of 19 she left to work 15 years in Puerto Rico doing mission work. She started out working in an orphanage and then a Christian day school. She also worked with young people traveling the island of Puerto Rico visiting each town and from there traveled many of the islands of the sea with groups of young people giving out the gospel. Upon returning home she moved to North Carolina and then settled in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She married her husband Edwin, after many years of being single. He loved her even when this Lily was not very lovable and was still in the growing stage. Today she visits her husband daily at a nursing home, as she, Lily, continues to grow.

Poetry. "Written in lyrical shreds, each page is complete unto itself. THE LILY BOOK's textures, suggestiveness, and physicality are remarkable, but the lyric is given further authority by an interruptive method that introduces uncertainty and inconclusion. In this way, Valerie Coulton brings into agreement the lyrical and the experimental"--Paul Hoover.
