At present more than four fifths of its inmates come from that source, their stay is indefinite and their maintenance is provided for out of public funds. Other children are received as boarders for an indefinite length Of time on the request of parents or guar dians, who, if able to do so, are required to contribute toward the children's support. Under the law which requires that children who are public charges be maintained according to the religious faith of parents, the House of Industry is considered a Protestant Institution, athough its' charter is very broad and provides that it shall Imbue. The objects of its care with the pure principles of Christianity as revealed in the Holy Scriptures without bias from the distinctivepeculiarities of any individual sect.
