Synopsis An Ordinary Guy... with the Extraordinary God by : Dick Snavely

Dick Snavely reveals some of his childhood experiences and personal challenges that prepared him to organize and lead Family Life Ministries for nearly fifty years. These experiences include miracles, exciting answers to prayer along with the good, the bad, and the ugly. The reader will share in Dick's early struggles from spankings in third grade, reckless driving as a teenager, the search for a wife, and getting fired as a pastor. You will also rejoice with him in his glorious victories of a personal encounter with God, working with troubled boys, the conversion of a city gang member and the building of a Christian radio station that became a network of Christian FM stations. The excitement and thrill of victory is evident in the story of Family Life Ministries/Network. Dick has often prayed "Lord I don't know where you are leading me today but help me to hang on." Dick Snavely was raised in a Mennonite family in Lancaster County, PA. He organized Family Life Ministries, New Life Homes-Snell Farm, Twin Tiers Youth For Christ, and Family Life Network. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University Dick was a film evangelist with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Film Association, and pastored a church briefly in West Virginia. He is married 55 years to Jacqueline DeVere. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. All four children are active in their church and serving the Lord. Dick is just an ordinary guy. Synopsis Billy Graham by : Lon Allison

Just in time for the first anniversary of Billy Graham’s death, Allison’s reflection on the life and work of America’s pastor is now available in paperback. New preface by the author, new to this edition. Billy Graham said, “You have no idea how sick I get of the name Billy Graham, and how wonderful and thrilling the name Christ sounds to my ears.” So why another book about him? Lon Allison, evangelist himself, and popular evangelical pastor in Wheaton, Illinois, has learned much from Billy. Allison retells the highlights of what has been, by any objective account, a fascinating life, and tells it in a way that resonates with the Graham legacy of serving God and seeking to spread the Good News. Every stage of Graham’s life is included, even the rough spots, with appreciation and a desire to answer the question: What can we learn from the life and ministry of Billy Graham? What is his legacy? What was his message and how might it still be relevant for today. “Many will welcome the intimate details of his life revealed by Allison. Their close relationship allows the author to present a ‘bird’s-eye view’ of the evangelist.” —David Gibson, Catholic News Service

Synopsis Average Joe by : Troy Meeder

“What is happening to my life?” Have you ever honestly asked yourself that question? As young boys, we dreamed of being pilots, firefighters, doctors, and cowboys. Now we’re older, with a wonderful wife and kids, as well as a mortgage, a minivan, and a fulfilling but not-so-glamorous job. What happened? All the dreams that once inspired us have evaporated into traffic jams, computer screens, bills, and deadlines. Why is life so ordinary? If you think your life is nothing special, take a look at it through God’s eyes. The revealing truth is that God chooses “ordinary,” faithful men to do His most important work—regular guys like Peter the fisherman, David the shepherd, Stephen the waiter, Gideon the farmer, Paul the tentmaker, and even Jesus the carpenter. In this engaging book, Troy Meeder blends stories about biblical characters and contemporary men to show that an “average-Joe” life, an “ordinary” existence, shapes a man’s integrity, moral stability, resolve, and strength. The world desperately needs an army of “average Joes.” Like you. “Troy Meeder’s heart-felt accounts from both his own personal experience and those of friends and family touch a raw nerve in your soul…. Average Joe reminds us that living a life focused on faith, family, and friends is what makes a man exceptional.” —Rick Wiggers, average Joe and account manager Includes a study guide for use by men’s groups.

Synopsis Ordinary by : Michael Horton

Radical. Crazy. Transformative and restless. Every word we read these days seems to suggest there’s a “next-best-thing,” if only we would change our comfortable, compromising lives. In fact, the greatest fear most Christians have is boredom—the sense that they are missing out on the radical life Jesus promised. One thing is certain. No one wants to be “ordinary.” Yet pastor and author Michael Horton believes that our attempts to measure our spiritual growth by our experiences, constantly seeking after the next big breakthrough, have left many Christians disillusioned and disappointed. There’s nothing wrong with an energetic faith; the danger is that we can burn ourselves out on restless anxieties and unrealistic expectations. What’s needed is not another program or a fresh approach to spiritual growth; it’s a renewed appreciation for the commonplace. Far from a call to low expectations and passivity, Horton invites readers to recover their sense of joy in the ordinary. He provides a guide to a sustainable discipleship that happens over the long haul—not a quick fix that leaves readers empty with unfulfilled promises. Convicting and ultimately empowering, Ordinary is not a call to do less; it’s an invitation to experience the elusive joy of the ordinary Christian life.

Synopsis An Ordinary Person with an Extraordinary God by : Suzanne Ross

Religion was transformed into Relationship for the author following an encounter with God in 1977. The Bible, no longer a dusty book on the shelf, became the Living Word of God to her and God's tool in transforming her life. From the beginning she felt inspired to write things down - jottings, notes on Bible verses, and testimonies to the amazing work of God in her life and the lives of others. She had a dream - one day she would write a book. This book is the fulfilment of that dream, maybe just a beginning. Her motive in telling her story of what God has done is first to give Him all the Glory, but also to give away what she has received, that others too may be blessed, forgiven, healed and transformed by the same Living God, through His Son Jesus Christ.
