This investigation of consolidation-induced changes in macrostructures is based on (1) the use of stereo X-ray radiography to map the macrostructures prior to and following consolidation and (2) a comparison of changes induced in artificial and natural macrostructures. Homogenous marine clay, fine grained quartz sand, and CuO powder were used to make twenty-two geometric macrostructures. An electro-osmotic cutting device was developed to facilitate model fabrication.
