Synopsis An Introduction to Narrative Generators by : Rafael Pérez y Pérez
This book describes how computer programs can generate narratives and how studies of computational narrative can illuminate how humans tell stories. Combining an introduction to relevant concepts related to automatic storytelling with accessible descriptions of well-known computer programs that illustrate how such concepts are employed, the book is aimed at an interdisciplinary audience and assumes little or no background in computer science. The book introduces the most relevant techniques employed over the last 60 years for the development of computer models for narrative generation, including narrative templates, problem-solving, planning, author engagement and reflection, and statistical methods such as deep neural networks, ending with an examination of the societal implications of the development of automatic narrative generator systems.

Synopsis Story Machines: How Computers Have Become Creative Writers by : Mike Sharples
This fascinating book explores machines as authors of fiction, past, present, and future. For centuries, writers have dreamed of mechanical storytellers. We can now build these devices. What will be the impact on society of AI programs that generate original stories to entertain and persuade? What can we learn about human creativity from probing how they work? In Story Machines, two pioneers of creative artificial intelligence explore the design and impact of AI story generators. The book covers three themes: language generators that compose coherent text, storyworlds with believable characters, and AI models of human storytellers. Providing examples of story machines through the ages, it covers the history, recent developments, and future implications of automated story generation. Anyone with an interest in story writing will gain a new perspective on what it means to be a creative writer, what parts of creativity can be mechanized, and what is essentially human. Story Machines is for those who have ever wondered what makes a good story, why stories are important to us, and what the future holds for storytelling.

Synopsis Advances in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence by : Rajiv Misra
With the intriguing development of technologies in several industries along with the advent of accrescent and ubiquitous computational resources, it creates an ample number of opportunities to develop innovative intelligence technologies in order to solve the wide range of uncertainties, imprecision, and vagueness issues in various real-life problems. Hybridizing modern computational intelligence with traditional computing methods has attracted researchers and academicians to focus on developing innovative AI techniques using data science. International Conference on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (ICDSAI) 2022, organized on April 23-24, 2022 by the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna at NITIE Mumbai (India) in collaboration with the International Association of Academicians (IAASSE) USA collected scientific and technical contributions with respect to models, tools, technologies, and applications in the field of modern Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, covering the entire range of concepts from theory to practice, including case studies, works-in-progress, and conceptual explorations.

Synopsis Proceedings of the 12th Annual Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT) Users Symposium (GIFTSym12) by : Benjamin Goldberg
Welcome to the Proceedings of the 12th Annual GIFT User Symposium! This year we are celebrating 12 years of GIFT Symposiums and have accepted 12 papers for publication. All of the presentations and the papers in this volume show the versatility of the Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT), and the work that is being done with GIFT. GIFT is an open-source intelligent tutoring system (ITS) architecture that is freely available online at GIFTtutoring.org. There are both Cloud and Downloadable version of GIFT. GIFT has been developed with multiple goals in mind including supporting ITS research, and simplified creation of ITSs and Adaptive Instructional Systems (AISs). Our fantastic team, and our program committee did a great job supporting the development of GIFTSym12, reviewing papers, and assisting with the facilitation of the event this year. We want to recognize them for their efforts: • Benjamin Goldberg • Gregory Goodwin • Anne Sinatra • Michele Myers • Alexandra Lutz • Randall Spain • Lisa N. Townsend We were very pleased to have GIFTSym11 return to being an in-person event this year! Additionally, this was our first year offering a hybrid option for attendees. We are very happy that both modalities were well attended!
